    Detail sander

I have got a black and decker mouse sander which was all of £20. I am normally wary of cheap tools but for the money this was amazing - although using abranet and a vacuum did it a lot of favours. It’s not as powerful as you have requested but it was fine for the jobs I have used it for.

Finish for oak topped side table

Depends.....sorry! Can you do a test on the underside? Varnish will darken the finish, but by how much depends on what finish, if any, was on the original piece and the brand of varnish you are using.

Thank you - I thought that might be the answer :( DC’s are not in the free version

    Sketch up scaling

I want to create a library of cabinet doors each with the same rail and style width, but with different overall dimensions (e.g 400mm wide, 500mm wide, different heights etc.) Before I create each one individually is there an easy way to do this? Scale changes the whole lot including the...

    Full overlay Euro hinge

Thank you folks, solved for the time being with different hinges. I think the originals were Blum and I hadn’t realised that you needed to vary the drilling distance from the side of the door. Cheers

    Full overlay Euro hinge

Thanks Steve, I meant carcass - sorry! Will post some pics tomorrow

    Full overlay Euro hinge

I have just fitted two sets of double doors with Euro hinges and have been left with a big gap where the cabinets meet. I have concluded that I had half overlay and not full overlay hinges, and that full overlay ones will sort it. They are fully adjusted and I used a jig for the holes so I am...

    Router table top issue?

Mine isn’t flat and while it’s ok for a lot of things I got thoroughly fed up when trying to cut the groves for kitchen door frames. I gave up in the end and found a friend with a spindle moulder!

    Runny wood glue

I decant Titebond into a wide neck screw top plastic container, adding a very small amount of water to make it spread more easily. It keeps just as well In this as in the original bottle, easy to get a brush into and no waste.

    Workbench top help please

Yes, you do need somewhere solid. I also couldn’t be without my vice, but having this on the mft section would just get in the way. It’s down to personal preference and working out what works for you in the space you have available.

    Workbench top help please

I think the lack of responses possibly indicates that it just depends........ My workbench is half traditional with a vice and half mft. The multitude of clamping options with the mft gets used for all sorts of things and comes into its own as my bench is against a wall so I can’t clamp from...

    Workshop apron

I started using a Veritas one about 6 weeks ago. The biggest plus is always knowing where your pencil/tape measure etc. are if you can train yourself to always put them back in your apron pocket.

    Is this joint strong enough?

That’s how I did my first bench and it’s still going strong 5 years later.

    Tracksaw accuracy

Thank you folks, time for a new top. Moved to a different area and it is fine.

    Tracksaw accuracy

I came across this by accident yesterday and it’s now annoying me, but I don’t know if I am expecting too much! Squaring up a bit of ply to try to get 350mm square by rotating round 4 cuts using mft type top and ts55. By the 4th cut, the error had multiplied, so It ended up about 1mm out...

Pros and Cons of a Table Saw based Router Table?

I have got a feeling there is a bug with the board as it has happened to me a couple of times. If you respond to a post and someone else responds to the same post before you submit your response, one of them will disappear. I haven’t proved it, but it might be worth playing with if a couple of...

    One of Bobby's Kitchens

This is lovely! Question for you if I can. With the white open fronted unit do you worry about the proportional split between the top and bottom, or do you just do the bottom bit to match the height of the other counter tops and make the top to finish a sensible height from the ceiling? Also...
