We are looking for an alternative to plaster for a painted internal finish. Anyone used Fermacell, or have any other suggestions? Thanks

    Track saw blades

Looking for recommendations for 48t track saw blade replacements as mine are now beyond sharpening. Are the Trend Craft one any good and do they survive sharpening? Or do I just accept that these are now disposable items :( Thanks

    Wanted Beading trim

Has any one got any of the attached that I could beg, buy or steal? Or alternatively suggest where I can get some as I can’t find any online? Each blob is approx 20mm long, 10mm high and 5mm thick. Ideally I need 500mm but could get away with less I I can patch it in. Thanks

    Mentor Wanted

As per a previous post find a course, the tutor will often provide after support as well for someone that is really keen. There are some things that are very difficult to learn online - like how square is square and how sharp is sharp. Having someone to critique you is invaluable. However, be...

    ply chicken shed

Mine is ply designed with as few raw edges that I could get away with. Zinsser allcoat as a finish (they got to choose their favourite colour). Floor and roof both removable so that it can just be washed out when needed.

    hinges

Kirkpatrick are a good make, available form several places but I have found Marches Ironmongery to be particularly helpful in the past.

I've never used a sliding mitre saw before, but I've just bought one. Looking for safety/operating advice.

Beat me to it - for the sake of £17 just buy one! You would spend that much in cleaning products mopping up the blood when either you or the mitre saw get it wrong.

SawStop, stops on contact with skin is coming to Europe soon!

The value of the data they are able to collect from your near miss outweighs their cost of a canister. Also, it’s a promotional thing, the cost of a replacement canister is likely to put a lot of people off, this is just their way of assuring their product. I am not sure what the debate is...

    Old nails

Ideally save the nail, but otherwise end up with a hole to put a new nail in. It’s the seat of a very old kitchen chair.

    Old nails

That doesn’t remove the hazard which is me with a blowtorch!

    Old nails

I want to get some very old nails out of an even older piece of oak. General consensus seems to be to use a blow torch to heat the nail, however I don’t like the thought of a naked flame in my workshop. Is there a safer way to do it? (Other than chopping it off with a hacksaw!) Thanks

Osmo Polyx Oil Raw 3044 Advice

I would never brush on Osmo but use a lint free cloth (less is more with Osmo). Then throw the cloth out afterwards- sorted! Mutton cloth works well

    Shared 3m x 2m shed - any ideas??

I used to have a similar layout but narrower. I had a piece of mft, next to that router mounted in a small bench with dust extractor directly underneath, another small bit of bench then a small mitre saw in the corner. I could swing the mitre round when I wanted to do longer cuts. I used a...

    Howdens

Rang them this morning - they said that their cabinet pricing structure was too complex to put online.

    Howdens

So we now have a Howdens trade account with access to online pricing, however for the life of me I can’t find cabinet prices (everything else but!). It just keeps saying book a design appointment- I don’t want a design appointment, just want cabinet prices. What is the secret? Howdens pricing...

    Another dust extraction question :)

I have got a Scheppach HD12 on mine which is 3/4HP. It works fine, but is on the upgrade list mainly as the bag is relatively small and I seem to be changing it every 5 minutes.
