Help needed on Band saw setup - Record Power Sabre 350

No bother, but worth noting it's not comprehensive without the motor, and could well damage it without consideration, Bearing or similar to clear a protruding shaft. I made a plate for my motor, as motor castings are made from some kind of alloy which might not like being shimmed! It's...

Sipo/utile from the quartersawn edge grain flecking, would be my guess.

Help needed on Band saw setup - Record Power Sabre 350

If yer still having trouble, then the scribing beam would tell all. The wheels need to be within tolerance for the beam not to pick up an error You'll know what that tolerance is, by rotating the wheel and seeing if the pen lands on the same spot/line. 0.5 mm on my 24" wheels translated to a...

    Can you advise, please?

Steve's videos are worth a watch though, especially if you like herringbone or other patterns, then it's the best you'll find. Seen that guy you posted about before, possibly from that channel, if not Highland woodworker or possibly Gwinnett woodworkers on YT. Peter Sefton might hopefully be...

    Can you advise, please?

Steve Latta is one of the big names regarding that, and has a line of custom tools which Lie-Nielsen makes/made

    Bandsaw upgrade

Used ones in good nick can go for about a grand, if you wait. Usually have 3hp 3 phase motors, which are "dual voltage" so would need a way of sorting that. I have a similar motor on my Griggio, and run it from a VFD. Depending on your situation, you may want a fancier VFD than my 100 quid...

Help needed on Band saw setup - Record Power Sabre 350

Pity the cheap and cheerful bandsaws can't be guaranteed to run without issue, like the saw I had previously, which the experts couldn't fix! :p Bit of a lotto if yer not getting a machine with an adjustable motor.

    Bandsaw upgrade

The Centauro CO series is one of the only foolproof designs out there, in terms of adjustability... if your talking about an upgrade and not some auld thing with tin wheels.

    R15 Router Lift and Motor

I'm still considering options for making a router table insert. Seems steel might be the way to go, seeing as the lower ring for resting the insert seems to be common. What I can't make out is what keeps the reducer rings in place, magnets, or some kind of expanding system like a die for...

    how to build a bandsaw

What's so special about that machine? Looks like trouble to me, like that old one Keith Rucker's restoring. Working museum perhaps?

    Hand Tool Wall Cabinet

I'd imagine all walnut would be very dark. Beech is often stained as such, might you want a plan B.

    What machine to buy next

Another option is to research on every option, so the knowledge is there should something come up locally. A machinists pillar drill might pop up from time to time, for the same money as a new machine of lesser quality, shouldn't be a big ask compared to more specialized stuff, or..if even just...

Advice to a 15 yo wanting a woodwork career

Still no good for delicate cabinetry, and a better solution could be done for the money, i.e possibly in some shared workshop, men's/women's shed or the likes? I still agree on the principal of the workmate, it just needs be a whole lot better, and as said, I haven't seen anyone tackle that...

    Workbench finishing

I've never encountered this problem having a shiny bench, what's easy to clean. I don't do "on the fly" stuff much though, i.e no site work, and generally be doing the same operation multiple times, and will trap the wood if I need do something where force is applied across the timber i.e...

Advice to a 15 yo wanting a woodwork career

Fine if you've got a space to build a bench, have a pair or as said have a top/beam on a trestle the far end, but in something like a utility room, or even in the garden, (as the kid's workshop is still full) that could mean the idea of it being somewhat more permanent a reasonable assumption...

Advice to a 15 yo wanting a woodwork career

I can't see a workmate as a fair introduction to cabinetmaking or something else what might be on the more refined side of things, i.e a hand tool bench. They're not really that compact when folded either. Haven't seen anything of the likes what might work well for "bench work", though that's...

Advice to a 15 yo wanting a woodwork career

Had a look to see the video I was on about, but couldn't find it. It showed what looked to be a good atmosphere, but I suppose Rycotewood and the likes would be also. The only way a workmate could work for hand planing, is to have two of them, with a top which could butt up against a wall or...

Advice to a 15 yo wanting a woodwork career

I've got plenty of that partiallly ethical type hide ifi yer looking for some :ROFLMAO: Some good points here have been raised here, and generous as usual, something ye don't see too much of these days. I don't think location has been mentioned, i.e rural or urban, as a shed would be a...
