Vfd vs dps vs new motor help

Your choice may depend on how many other machines you've got/or have planned, but I take from your comments from your final option of getting a single phase replacement motor that you might be happy enough to get this running. I'm also under the assumption, that you've got the juice i.e 16a...

Fobco Star runout after months of inactivity and several moves

If the machine was giving a better read out prior to being moved, then it's quite likely handling the machine upset the MT's and, nevermind I misread a zero, lol. I use a long bit as a poor mans solution, and done a whole lot of trial and error to get it as good as could be, and then marked it...

Fobco Star runout after months of inactivity and several moves

Did you try knocking out the arbors and trying again... or even bluing the MT's and seeing if there is some burrs or something upsetting things. Make sure you clean off the ink well, as you might find your chuck can fall out unexpectedly if not. Good luck Tom

    Portable table saw advice?

I suggest a bandsaw for the job, get something like an old 400 or 440mm wheeled Italian saw, or something along the same lines as best as you can tell, which would be able to tension a 3/4" carbide blade, if you want a clean finish off the saw. Otherwise just use a hand plane. Something like...

    Portable table saw advice?

When I read about these portable machines, I often wonder if folks might get the impression these might be stable enough on their own. Just worth mentioning, possibly for someone's sake. This is the best example of that what I've seen, can't remember if the machine were clamped down or screwed...

My first thread….table saw, sander and dust extractor….be gentle….

Not much of a journey to use hand planes, though could see why someone might be intimidated by the cost of those Shapton hones, or ductile iron planes. That whole better steel thing, aswell as the results of those hones are a perfect example of the money pit some may fall into. Rob specifically...

    VFD 1-3PH 240V on 400V motor

Worth mentioning a few things like there being 240v in - 400v out VFD's available, which some folks on the auzzie forum have been running successfully on lathes. Also worth mentioning making sure it's possible to enter HP values and amperage as some don't give that option. Making sure the VFD...

My first thread….table saw, sander and dust extractor….be gentle….

Many will scoff at this, as the man is regularly mentioned to be a self interested i.e in your wallet, and will possibly convince you that you need this or that, fair enough, but if you approach his teachings with that in mind, then you likely won't get much better of a comprehensive instruction...

My first thread….table saw, sander and dust extractor….be gentle….

I have a different take on this, well for one who's only seen one picture of Nick's instagram. (a nice jewelry box) If that's the kinda thing, i.e solid woods, then I'll give me 2 cents. A big bandsaw, like 20" machine, large enough for ripping with accurately, and will do everything else...

Kity 613 Bandsaw wheels not in line?

The likely reason of the blade tracking as such is due to the tires. If you've got flat tires like those seemingly cork/rubber composite ones, which normally get dressed to a crowned profile after being installed on the wheels, then that would explain matters. Why, one may ask?... Well, one...

    Startrite 275

http://www.altsawsandspares.co.uk/about.html Not sure if you've compared the cost with this site? Guess you might have freely downloaded the manual by now. Plenty of folks who have 275 saws here, might be worth a search. All the best Tom

    Accu-ish Slice

For those who like to have a ponder at things... It might be worth noting that the Inca has a direct drive motor, which might just make wheel alignment that much more noticeable as some have suggested in regards to the importance of not making any compromises regarding commissioning the machine...

Why is this dangerous kit being advertised on here?

Perhaps they could consider one of these for cases where the HSE might suggest where it's OK to use for wider rips? I seen one on discount, but was put off by the shattery lookin plastic. Tremendous grip though! No ole in the handle, but a holster instead.

Why is this dangerous kit being advertised on here?

FTFY ;) Triton. Some great points mentioned in this thread. What comes as a surprise to me is the feeling of acceptance of failure is OK in regards to not being able police dangerous practices or kit. The majority of folks posting or visiting here, well were likely all getting a lil gray...

Why is this dangerous kit being advertised on here?

450mm is the suggested minimum length for a push stick to use on a tablesaw. That plastic thing shouldn't be for sale. They should clearly specify that it won't comply with UK regs.

    Crowned bandsaw tyres

Thanks to John for bumping this old thread, as I must clear up my misconceptions regarding the Italian saws having flat tires. I should'a looked at the spare Centauro CO 600 tire I had closer The gap between the blocks to allow for the tongue Bit better of an impression of the camber, slightly...

    Power file for saw sharpening

Likely wrong here, but I've got a saw or two which the plate has gone hard and brittle, which will dull a file pretty quick compared, much like the hardened teeth on a throwaway saw, and complicates sharpening by a lot compared... or indeed establishing teeth in the first place. I'd go looking...

Italian bandsaw near Wales, might be worth a punt

My writing isn't aimed for folks who can afford to buy lemon after lemon from various showrooms, and more to point out the misinformation made by most folks, well meaning and otherwise. Those with more sense than money should be following along. Evident enough really, as a picture paints a...

Italian bandsaw near Wales, might be worth a punt

Nice bandsaw and guitar there John. Seems yourself and many others have missed my point about anything lesser than the designs mentioned being a lottery. If you think I want to brag about results or whatever, then you've missed all the misery what's the result of misalignment. Plus all the rest...

Italian bandsaw near Wales, might be worth a punt

Looks sorta like one of those CML machines, which I've not seen too many of. Doesn't appear like any of the others to me, i.e shared components like guidepost for example. Interesting to see Depends on your perspective I suppose, though a very open statement to suggest to a bandsaw troll like...
