If you've got a mortiser, seems like you could do with a larger wheeled machine to me. Just to give an idea of the size difference in foot print between something on legs and a compact far eastern machine (of which some are not, most of the cheaper machines look to be, Not saying to go to...

Is this old grinder worth keeping?

What fortune to get them The slow wheel is handy for axes. Been meaning to pick up another wee one myself, I'd like another with narrow wheel for grinding into a shoulder Likely have to spend a few bob to match hp, as lots are being made with tiny motors these days. My new one seems to run a...

    Beginning to use hardwoods

Presumably you've got adequate power supply for extraction aswell as whatever machines you choose, and space for it, plus transport to take whatever timbers you choose to work with? How about access to metalwork tooling locally, and finding everything as you go Just pointing out it's hard for...

For a grand there's likely something to suit. You'd be best clarifying what space you need i.e the floor footprint or a requirement for overhead clearance. If only the former then you can go upto 20" (compact) or 440/450mm (Italian or Hammer) without loosing footprint. this as well as...

Hello Your being way too vague to suggest anything yet, I suggest you be more specific. We don't know anything like... Height and of cut and length of stock 240v could mean anything, as in needs to run off a 13a or 16a plug... we don't know if you've got suitable electrical outlets should you be...

Have you looked around for a local agri spares supplier so you can bring it in with you?

ID of veneer needed to restore this box please?

Looks like it to me aswell. How did the panel come out, did the joints come loose to allow it? (I see it now, the same as one would for a glass panel) Some looking on the local ad's, especially the free ones, would likely find something in similar or worse state and yield enough of a veneer to...

The language is mutating (and always has done)

Yet to read of a more apt word to replace skookum which does the job as soundly.

    Pallet Wood

Good stuff for bird tables until you can better stuff. A swipe with a hand plane will suddenly make it not so poo should you decide to make stuff from it. Good to have a few scraps of various lengths for a few jigs, test cuts or whatnot.

Wanted Someone to set up my bandsaw SY S66

If that happens then time to check east/west with a straight edge on both wheels, laser or custom made jig. Grizzly suggest the table off and beam in a video Seems they can get without using a block to register against a single wheel? Blade installed to check Holding that beam/straight...

Wanted Someone to set up my bandsaw SY S66

Adjusting the "jacking screws" for the bottom wheel sounds like the answer to me. If the shaft is moved north, the blade will track towards the centre of your wheel. Sounds like you may have been trying moving the shaft the opposite direction. Tom

Calling al Axminster TS-250M-2 saw bench owners

So long as the blade doesn't change in alignment and skew out of parallel when tilted to 45 when you fix the table to where it appears correct. Yet to delve into this on my old Startrite, thankfully Deema mentioned this to me as I was thinking it would be a big job. Good luck with finding your...

Calling al Axminster TS-250M-2 saw bench owners

Not sure if there's adjustment in the arbor, but just incase there is... see what the blade looks like i.e set @90 and parallel with fence, or timber should it not line up with blade. and see whether the blade goes out of alignment when tilted to 45, east to spot when fence is butted upto it...

    iTech SP300c - Dialling in....

Just a guess from someone with no experience with P/T's Might be worth placing a spirit level around the machine to see if the floor maybe reason for it not going to spec tolerance, perhaps the sheet metal base is slightly deforming if the ground isn't totlly flt I noted with my strtrite 275...

Tormek T4 or is it overkill for my needs?

Perhaps the question is best answered if we know whether the edge is chipped or not.. Chipped could be a very good indication that the slow speed wet grinder will be too slow for the work, unless you have a good explanation. Cheap 8" grinder for a song if you can find used, and some cheap...
