Tenon saw is not sawing coplanarly

Charlesworth mentioned the release cut for this, no more than a half mm, in the forbidden direction. This closes up again compared to the fibers being severed pared on the baseline.

Tenon saw is not sawing coplanarly

A question for sawyers relating to the above scenario, Guessing a progressive pitch filed saw might be problematic for such thick stock.?

Tenon saw is not sawing coplanarly

Being a hobbyist myself, I'd have no issue with some transferring if needed with such large joints, in hardwood, to a furniture standard, as that looks like it might be a battle to assemble with glue applied. Did you make a wee chamfer on the underside, or is that why you got the chip out?

    Starting out power tools

I wouldn't jump out and buy a PT , and a possible cu fusebox upgrade to deal with extracting from it, if i were getting hand planes, may as well use them. Not to discourage one away from hand tools, lots of stuff to get, just try stay away from high priced stuff and seek out older stuff for...

External NVR placement on Dewalt 745 after near miss

I see absolutely nothing to go wrong with the buttons, but whether there is a decent point to bolt a mounting bracket to hold a hinged paddle. Can you install a plate to go behind the apron and swap out the fence rail bolts for longer ones ? Absolutely everything about those portable saws is a...

How about making a hinged paddle for the switch?

    Starting out power tools

A solid timber workbench free of clutter would be my preference, that and a good bandsaw. Could get a nice 20" machine for that money, and it wouldn't be as dusty as the other machines. Would likely need a decent supply to run such a machine, as with other dustier equipment plus extraction. But...

    Wood id

The term "flecks" to me, is very descriptive, and what I've seen referred to as such is often present in beech and sipo/utile, but not apparent with iroko, which it looks like to me also. I think these pictures describe what a fleck is, but maybe @Sgian Dubh can clear that up, should he have...

    Bent blade

Looks like it possibly maybe needing the grind freshened up? Should it be bottoming out on the work or indeed, the bed. Might be worth resetting the frog incase it maybe a skew aswell, Just incase both maybe working together against you. I think I may have noticed this before after reducing the...

    Structural doubt for tool stand

Looks very complicated for a scroll saw, without seemingly for anything to be gained? Not sure whether you plan on sitting down,or even just standing closer, should that be the case, consider room for legs, or if standing , then room for feet to save stooping . Have you considered welding up...

    Bandsaw dust extraction

I was showing someone my previous 20" machine, which had a rather small table, not expecting him to take a deep breath whilst I opened the doors, lol.

Is it possible to cold bend a leaf spring, say from an old trailer , they already have a pipe on the end.?

Some make powered routers deliver, but that is a topic in itself.

Good reason to leave your table saw guard on

Thanks to Trevanion, I've found out the way to do this right. I'll be keeping my riving knife installed though. Really surprised I've not seen this before Certainly will be thinking about this when I make up an overhead guard, Good job I didn't make it up too soon, should it make sense to use...

    New Router Plane

Only half watched it, was expecting/hoping to be slightly miffed, even if there might be a good idea in some form or another. :) but sure hasn't screamed out this is the design I've to copy. Although I've never used one, I've watched plenty of demos, and near every one of them overshooting the...

It's hard to believe, but stanley still makes a #7

I don't mind the plastic handles that much, at least they're likely the right shape. Two near or identical planes, but one is nicer as the tote is more forward leaning, which is most noticeable when held single handed, as it seems lighter being ever so much closer to the toe.

    Startrite 301 motor broken

Is this the same motor ? Taken from this thread... https://www.ukworkshop.co.uk/threads/startrite-301-bandsaw-motor-advice.95151/ Just trying to speed up some things for you, Plenty of folks here or on the woodhaven2 could work out what replacement is needed from the motor name plate, should it...

    Bandsaw recommendations

This might be worth a look, though it's three phase, likely dual voltage 240v option which is required for vfd, it may have a small motor, so questionable as to swap out, and an odd wheel size, and no fence seemingly. Probably worth at most 600. I'd want nicer for the money. .
