    3 Phase Inverters

@ Sideways, do you mean a specific inverter like you've shown, which gives out 400v and has the necessary parameters to de-rate motors... (I got chastised about mentioning this, even though I'd mentioned it in Italic writing.) If so, are most motors for the thicknesser feed 4 pole? I would have...

    3 Phase Inverters

I've only been told that there are folks on the metalwork forums site successfully running 400v "fixed star wound" motors with EcoGoo VFD's. I haven't priced these to see if these are 50% more expensive, as is the case with some other cheapo units, which I've not seen anyone use to power these...

But those are too long for the average subhuman to step on your painting aid board.

    Quangsheng No.62 low angle vs No.5 vs No.5 1/2?

Be interesting to see if you can get enough clearance with the lower frog, using the buffer method in a sort of practical way. I'd guess the reason is simply down to effort, especially for one who hones a rounded bevel of 80 degrees on the cap. I hope Warren visits soon, have you showed him...

    Glue & Teak

Here's what Gorilla glue or likely a similar PL glue will look like once cured. In the middle you can see it slightly denser, this was packed rather than just applied via gravity, which is a bit like Styrofoam. People who use this stuff for woodworking from what I've seen, suggest absolutely no...

    Fancy/better quality household plug...

Interesting reading, and suggestions folks and @Agent_zed about the use of a ferrule and also @rogxwhit mention of the already existing rubber sleeve. I've never looked into cable ratings or the likes, going under the assumption that the thinner the cable the more it needs be watched, but can...

You mean a real BBP, Careful what you wish for?

    Quangsheng No.62 low angle vs No.5 vs No.5 1/2?

Not disagreeing whatsoever, I love my old Bailey's, and was wanting to see comparison with the likes of a ductile iron version for potential buyers, thicker double iron, and more sensible totes/handles, to see whether these planes will take the same thickness shaving, as I haven't seen someone...

    Quangsheng No.62 low angle vs No.5 vs No.5 1/2?

I see some lovely furniture there Derek, but nice furniture doesn't answer the question, of how thick of a shaving those premium bevel down double iron planes can take, should someone be trying to decide whether to go to ebay or to buy a new ductile iron plane. I see Daniel taking some smoothing...

    Quangsheng No.62 low angle vs No.5 vs No.5 1/2?

@Derek Cohen (Perth Oz) I never measured my Bailey's mouth, so am guilty of laziness, but do have a good piccy of a dense exampe of iroko with about the thickest shaving I can take, not the lighter examples of the stuff where one could get much thicker shavings using a different plane or...

    Quangsheng No.62 low angle vs No.5 vs No.5 1/2?

Might as well ask a related query here, since this thread has hinted strongly into some sort of thread regarding volume work. Just wondering if the mouth on those premium ductile planes is rather tight with those thicker irons, compared a to say a Bailey pattern from the mid century (golden age...

Startrite TA300 - practical for working with full sheets?

Sorry can't answer your sheet goods query, but I have the more basic 275 DS or something like that, with more basic sliding carriage, which could be bought for a third of that kinda dough. I'd imagine it's a tad overpriced for something that's not a true slider, nor having a scoring blade for...

Kity 613 Bandsaw strip and rebuild (long post)

I wonder if a piece of copper pipe might be another method. Failing all repairs, or replacements which I'd imagine would be available should it be a standard shaft, its likely someone is out there who makes stuff like this with a printer. Have a look at this thread for instance. Good luck...

    Fancy/better quality household plug...

LOL Thanks @Phil Pascoe for pointing that out, I must clean the dust on the screen. I couldn't get the link to work, but found Screwfix Eire annoyingly no view of the other side. Have these whatever quick change fuse is called, like on the sturdy moulded chainsaw plug I have, or any other...

    Fancy/better quality household plug...

Thanks Rogxwhit Not sure what "fused through" means, but good to get more terminology which I will be looking up. I did not google anything like "heavy duty 13 amp plugs" until now, but nothing much there that looks better than what you've linked. I suppose I was looking for the Lie-Nielsen...

    Fancy/better quality household plug...

Hello, just wondering if there's somewhat of an option regarding 13a household plugs. Been using some shoddy old ones from a box for the last few years, and might consider getting some fancy ones for indoor use. I've seen mention of H07RNF cable being the bees knees, flexible and somewhat...

    Scheppach Basa 1 bandsaw problem

Perhaps Clogs was merely suggesting that the chuck key should be used the proper way, and tightened with the left hand.

Kity 613 Bandsaw strip and rebuild (long post)

Does the fan not rotate up to speed, CA superglue or possibly epoxy and some dense plastic possibly Bakelite shavings might make a suitable putty. Failing that would it be possible to plug and redrill ?
