    Help with Stanley Plough Plane

I've never used a plough or fillister plane before, but what immediately came to mind is... Did you try using the fence adjusted closely to the cutter, rather than from the other side of the board. I'd suggest it might be racking, and one would need a longer fence if used far from the cutter.

    Bandsaw Servicing

I do hope they look at this post, going the extra mile in guaranteeing a great running machine would surely tie in with their new venture. Those guys look up to the job if you ask me. All the best Tom

    Trouble with Beams

Oh my, that is looking for a fight, two big knots on presumably kiln dried stock, That's the part when the scrubbers break out their belt sanders.

    Trouble with Beams

Not going to go down well, haha, but I have no sympathy for one who sounds able. Get a smooth heavy rigid door, like a fire door for example, and plonk it on that "bench" Then you will be able to see where those surfaces are hinging from, Charlesworth's videos which makes things easier and...

    Marking Knives

I was referring to a belt and boots approach, as in both the knifeline for that, and the pencil line left remaining, which if doing tight fitting joinery might be valued, should things be too tight.

What do you do with all those scraps of timber?

The bandsaw will surely provide more bang for yer buck in that sense.

And a retractable pencil can be used for those who want both registration and markings, that is, for those who wish to keep their lines.

    Axminster BS350 Bandsaw

If you can't find a manual for it, then you could try looking for it under a differing brand name, Namely the Sumaco if it's the same one. There be a few hits on the search up top. https://www.ukworkshop.co.uk/threads/sumaco-tbs350-bandsaw.112092/

    Trouble with Beams

You won't see Charlesworth using a scrub plane, nor doing anything but long grain shavings.

    Bandsaw Transport

Might need to dismount the switch, so some tools for that Do those have alloy wheels...check'em beforehand if buying. Table off is a good idea, it'll make things easier for sure, plenty of machines which have broken trunnions because of this. If doing so by yourself, a thick fence post or the...

    Yet another wood ID

I do see pink shades on some, now you say it. I've only about 10 bits of the stuff, and I.D'd it from your place actually, and not found anything quite as stringy, which is the giveaway to me, as I've not seen anything which displays such evident long grain pores, more like straws than anything...

    Trouble with Beams

Sounds like you've already got a straight edge :) but doesn't sound like you've got a suitable lamp to use it. Some graphite would be more sensible on clean wood, than a dark crayon. By your low points description, it suggests the focus being on the opposite of where the plane is getting used...

    Trouble with Beams

You could make one. Ideally, you'd need a lamp like an angle poise, look at the Ikea ones (I can't get an ikea UK located price, as cookies gone wild) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/313227123087 This is to sight a gap inbetween two timbers, but in absence of that, then one could create witness...

    Trouble with Beams

A straight edge would serve you well, and not planing timber what's not supported. An old bit of saw plate would be good to scrape grit off beforehand, as it doesn't take much to blunten an iron. Tom

    Bandsaw Servicing

Couldn't fit all the pictures into first post, here's one from the link Mark where you can hear it Draw filing leaves ridges Could level the saw to find out if yer wheels are plumb That's about it. All the best Tom

Tram the wheels Might need to work them, and not sure how much you'd need to on 350mm wheels, on 24" wheels, that's 0.2mm. Make the file handle thick enough, i.e impossible to turn upside down, might need finish off with a finer file to eliminate ridges from draw filing. Length of timber to...

    Funny Planes

Even if it had bits missing, still likely to be worthy of putting back to use,and valued as such, not to mention not that common on the ground either. Ner used one of those, but it's clear to see why some folk like'em, great for hogging off material rapidly compared to anything else really, (by...

    Piano Desk

Looks quite the undertaking, I presume someone has done something remotely similar. I'd be guessing a mock up would be in order, or perhaps CAD skills. Are you anticipating chopping it up, welding, or just using the lifts seems like it might might simplify things. Not sure how you're going to go...
