Before I Put the [redacted] Plane Through the Window

Yes, pretty much impossible to hollow out anything, and retain the perimeter, using a plane what takes more off each side. Thus to ensure there are no visible gaps around the whole joint when paired. Some even make a point of this, take some folk working in damp environments, or working stuff...

    “Gouge cuts”

Didn't see any sign of that scoop, but perhaps if you haven't seen Ken Hawley collection trust videos it may be of some use. But I guess that's page one stuff to yourself.

All of the newer guards have wheels, so therefore need to be larger to accommodate. Seems a safety feature, given the reason Agent_Zed above mentioned, for one.. Might a set distance be required, i.e minimum distance from the front of the blade? Here's another guard, somewhat demonstrating how...

Bandsaws are a lot safer if they've got a large table IMO as they lend themselves to longer pushsticks @ 450mm minimum per HSE. Briefly had a 20" far eastern one before, with plenty of capacity, and standing in front of it one is very close to the blade compared to some. Suppose I can rig up...

But is/can it still be legit, if set correctly? as most machines with such overhead guards are generally quite a bit longer, (note the blades hung up on the wall) Discounting an argument whether it counts as safe or not, when the blade is tilted, should that not count as enclosed, (guessing...

Did you chance that without it against a backer?

    Table saw router addition/conversion

Would love to see your setup, if you've got a link to this, I see the insert which looks neat, but no fence pics. I've got a fence to adapt and pondering about how to tackle it yet. Thanks Tom

Just asking about this floating crown guard, looks kinda small, for the size of blades that machine takes. Still legit? Thanks

    Watching accident videos

I watch all I can, which for the tablesaw is pretty much required reading/watching, seeing as so many, especially across the pond, have a terrible attitude towards safety, and hold a place in their hearts for unsafe machinery. Those guys and the hot dog sawyers youtubers have clogged the...

    Wonky Axminster saw

It appears like one solid lump on this machine? I had a bit of detritus on mine, and it was enough to make the blade all wonky. Some knowledgeable folk like Deema for instance, would make sure it's not a cheap blade like one of those red ones...just incase that is at fault. Should it happen...

    Rulers.

Those are rules what can't be broken, or should I say, cant break'em if they're already broke!

    Wonky Axminster saw

I believe most of these arbor flanges are dished (if that's the right word) i.e only contact the blade on the outer perimeter, and only make full/or lots more contact with the blade when tightened up. Unsure if it's the case here, but definitely worth a mention. Good luck Tom

Dust extraction using a bench grinder ?

Ya need both really, and for an extraction system what keeps the air clean, and not just machines, you need a large impeller in the range of 15" or thereabouts... It'll supposedly take a 5hp motor to run that. Why does it need be so powerful, it's cuz you want a very large surface area of...

    Rip before Dimensioning?

Safer and less wastage using a big bandsaw for the roughing out. The HSE would likely not recommend doing such on a TS without prepping the registering face and edge, or if suitable width to register off possibly edging on a slider, like Manor Wood's videos often does. For something which may...

Did you de-tension the belt to see if motor alignment might be at fault?

    Rip before Dimensioning?

Suppose that might depend on who's book yer reading, species etc. I've had it described as loosing thickness, but a big caveat here being that was referring to skip planed material, i.e someone else dealt with the wastage to get it to that state, and by cutting it up again would be the same deal.
