    Digital Calipers

I have a cheapish vernier caliper which doesn't need batteries, measures to a fiftieth of a mm and if treated with respect will still function for my great grandson or longer.

    3d confusion.

The slicer reports the same size as onshape. A test cube I did 20 by 20 by 20mm turned out so close it's not worth mentioning. The part in the pic is supposed to be 218 by 114 by 13 with 94mm diameter holes. The actual dimensions are 216.5 by 111.4 by 12.84 with two 91mm d holes. I printed a...

    3d confusion.

I'm using the ender 5 plus. I think it's in all directions, but I'll check. I'm trying it today enclosed, so the temp is much higher, maybe that will make a difference. Most things don't matter for a few mm but some do.

    3d confusion.

I've had my printer for a little while now and very impressed with it and myself.:) There's one niggle, when I design something say 220mm long. export it as .stl, slice it, print it, and measure it. It will be a few mm short. Is there a handy fix, Or will experience show me how much to increase...

    Canabis farms

Some interesting viewpoints. Has anyone considered that drug taking is not in itself a problem merely a visible symptom of the real problem. A bit like western medicine which tries to alleviate the symptoms rather than tackle what causes them.

    Canabis farms

According to Robert H. Schuller , the secret to success is to find a need and fill it. The Bill do get in the way sometimes. :)

    24v dc fans

Thanks, that's the info I need. I was reticent to apply a DC voltage as I wasn't sure if it had to be PWM. So just to confirm before I do something stupid, if I apply a DC voltage less than 10v to the yellow wire the fan will go and if I insert a 10k pot I can adjust?

    24v dc fans

Thanks, but these fans won't run even at 24v without a third input.

    24v dc fans

One of my ongoing part time projects is ventilating this old house. I have an almost adequate system at present, but recently acquired two 24v centrifugal fans. They have four wires 1 pos 1 neg 1 input for speed control and 1 output for a tachometer if desired. May be I've got it wrong? So...

    Hot topic

Sorry I've not used either of those products so can't choose. I used to have an 8 by8 wooden shed I kept for one hobby. The thing I noticed was it didn't take much heat to make it comfortable in fact it was mostly too warm before the thermostat kicked out and then getting on the cold side...

    It never happens in Europe!

The Butcher I visited had not cleared the pavement in front of his shop, while the rest of the street had. I asked him why. He told me that if he clears it and someone falls he can be liable. If he leaves it alone God is liable. Possibly true I don't know.

    It never happens in Europe!

It was the same in this area, I think it was 82/83 we had an unusual amount of snow which hung around for longer than usual. The council bought snowploughs and dished them out to people willy nilly so to be ready for the next big event. We're still waiting. During that period I drove <>100...

If you get stuck without an adapter?

I've seen much dodgier temporary solutions. But it only takes a minute to put a proper plug on.

    Unwanted emails

I've unsubscribed from a few senders but they persisted. Then I found the BLOCK function. This works well except for some persistent sites who send the same excrement from different email addresses. I'm wondering is there any way to block content rather than address
