Thought you were going to do the old one about the eighty year old ex para going for holiday in France. Immigration officer asked if he'd been to France before? Yes he says but last time I jumped from the plane and shot my way to Paris.

Thanks for that, straight from the horses mouth so to speak. But the colours are carefully picked and for reasons you can easily research. Why is the predominant colour in a news studio almost always blue?

Concrete screws- use of -how to.

I've used these to fix "stuff" to walls. They worked well where the wall was good. I also used 8 earlier this week in wood, I thought they would stand more sheer stress than a wood screw. Not in any danger of pulling out. Remains to be seen.

My turn to be pedantic. If the exemption was changed from 25 yo vehicles to 40 yo vehicle that would be a reduction. Was it ever for 25 yo vehicles?

Car tax / road fund licence

According to google in 1974 there were around 7000 RUC constables in NI, including reserves, and 6500 PSNI officers in 2024. Yet when I was growing up RUC cars and land rovers were everywhere, you couldn't turn a corner without meeting one or running into a checkpoint. Fortunately they were...

Car tax / road fund licence

I didn't know that. My question was merely for information. I have been toying with the idea of a classic car and while looking online saw some which have been untaxed for years. SWMBO advised caution as in her opinion, I might be liable for the back tax, er sorry duty. So my question was...

Car tax / road fund licence

Yes I can imagine it would be a non issue. MOT centres here are so far behind that sometimes the quickest appointment is 6 months away and since you can only book one month ahead, there are lots of motorists without current MOT. They are not being booked for no insurance.

Car tax / road fund licence

First thank you to the three people who answered my query. And since the thread has drifted I'd like to ask. Where did you get this information? I have never seen a stipulation in a car insurance policy that the car insured must have a current MOT cert. After all it's no guarantee that the...

If that be the current term for the amount of cash extorted by His Majesty's government for keeping a car on a public road.

Car tax / road fund licence

Does anyone know, if I buy a car which hasn't been taxed or sorned for a few years, would I be responsible for the back tax?

Ah come on. Tell me you don't enjoy pointing out continuity and factual errors in movies and TV shows.

    Cars that make you smile

Ford Capri 2.8i. I only had a brief test drive in a mates, back in the day. My pockets weren't deep enough. Fantastic acceleration and effortless doughnuts without slipping the clutch. I still had lots of fun in my 1.6L

    Cars - Form over function

My ford Kuga required me to have the clutch depressed before it would start. Recently the sensor on the clutch developed a fault. The mechanic told me the replacement sensors were different so now I needed to press the clutch and brake pedal before it would start. What next?

Not unless you are spinning. I'm convinced there would be a market for a very simple car with the minimum of non essential extras

    THE FOURTH OF JULY

Hasn't it become obvious yet, that elections are only to decide who tells you the mostly bad news. The people who make the decisions are not elected.
