    Table saw or bandsaw?

Most turners do use a bandsaw but mainly for roughing out blanks, which can be done by other methods. It really depends on what you're main interest is and your method of work.

SawStop, stops on contact with skin is coming to Europe soon!

I worked in a shop in my younger years where most everything was pneumatic. Drills, sanders, riveter, you name it. While sometimes the line could be a bother, for the most part it was just part of using the tool. I really don't think everything in the world needs to be cordless. I work in my...

SawStop, stops on contact with skin is coming to Europe soon!

I know why they use that advertising, it's pretty obvious, it's also arrogant, IMO We're back to the "if you don't use our saw, your putting yourself in danger" or some such nonsense. People need to pay attention to what they're doing and 99.9% of shop accidents would stop immediately. Why...

SawStop, stops on contact with skin is coming to Europe soon!

I know some will jump on this and tell me their fingers are worth it but that is just plain expensive. I would also add that the advertising with the guy missing a finger is off-putting. JMHO

What wood would and what wood wouldn't make your preferred species to work with.

Poplar is prone to staining and as a result, you can get some really great colors from it. Also, painting wood is a hate crime Example

Ive done my time son, dont you worry about that.

what just happened? It was here and then it was gone. Now I'm not complaining, just a bit bewildered. You guys saw it too, right? It was like a UFO, I'm not sure what I saw, I can't really explain it and no one would believe me if I could.

I would say anyone is looking for an excuse to ban you from anything but it does beg the question, why are you here if you seem to have such disdain for everyone?

    Craftsmanship. The simple definition.

Is that you goal here, to see how long you last?

    Craftsmanship. The simple definition.

All that is simply one mans opinion, nothing more. I can agree with some but certainly not all of the statement. I certainly wouldn't call that a "simple definition" I would like to ask why the OP keeps making veiled swipes at other nations values on quality work.

Ive done my time son, dont you worry about that.

As an American, from what I can see in the photograph, the work is well done. From what I read of the OP's comments, He has a dislike for all Americans and doesn't mind alienating all of us, as if we're all the same and he calls us arrogant. Pot, meet kettle. I don't think people banned you for...

    Timber framing engineering

Easy to lose track of time in there. I love the joinery library, where you can look at the various joints from all angles. It makes it easier to understand the joints with just quick glance, rather than a long drawn out written explanation that never seems to cover everything.

    Blade drift in bandsaw

I will go through this again for the millionth time. For a crowned tire saw; Adjusting the table = rough adjustment, adjusting tracking = fine adjustment. Fence and miter slot should be parallel, always. Never adjust the fence. adjust the blade, via the onboard tracking adjustment. If that...

    Any Snap-on experts on here

I believe he meant to write "some other" not "other other" Give the guy a break and stop trying to be so literal. There are always exceptions, he does not speak for all of Snap-on, only his experience. I've broken plenty of Snap-On tools over the years, it doesn't mean they're not still high...

They do have some tools as you mentioned, that don't have a lifetime warranty, due to the nature of the tool. I bought a tap & die set that was covered. It's been a great purchase. I've replaced quite a few taps, some of them more than once over the years. Easily covered the initial price years ago.

    Any Snap-on experts on here

I think part of it is that some DIYers don't comprehend using tools for a living and just exactly how much abuse they need to endure. I have less expensive tools (cheap) and that's why I bought them, I know what their longevity will be. Great for occasional use but there is no way they will...
