Gluing end grain is stronger than you think.

He did - the load at failure was higher in end grain to end grain.

Gluing end grain is stronger than you think.

This guy has posted scientific evidence that gluing end grain to end grain is stronger than edge grain to edge grain. Who knew 🤔

    Bosch PBD40 Pillar Drill

Here's me enjoying the Bosch. For light duty and accurate drilling it works great 👍 I love being able to control the speed with ease. You'll notice I have upgraded the wheel to a 3 spoke handle - so much nicer. I bought it from a German dude who sells them. Works great for light duty work...

    Tips for improving woodworking accuracy

Indeed. I was taught 'if you can't draw it on a rod - you can't make it' It proves you understand how to make what you are about to make before you start cutting expensive timber. Mistakes and waste isn't tolerated in a joiners shop.

    Tips for improving woodworking accuracy

Another vote here for using rods. I don't see any videos on YouTube teaching this method any more. Trade Colleges did used to teach this and I wonder if they still do? One trick I was taught was to layout my rods using paper on the rod. It was simply taped down. Then at the end of the job we...

    toolbag advice

I still have my canvass bag that was made for me by a lady in the REME. She used some spare canvass from an army jeep. Been going strong since the 80's So maybe consider having a traditional bag made for those hand tools and I recommend sustainers for power tools. I personally love the ability...

    De-tensioning bandsaw after use?

I have the Sabre 350 and use Tuffsaw blades. I never release my tension as a weekend woodworker. I've never had one snap. Sounds like a flaw in the blade, or you had over tensioned the blade - replace and move on ;)

    Cordless lawnmowers, anyone had one?

I have the cordless Makita twin battery model. I've nothing but positive things to say. I mow every week so it never gets too tall and I've never had a problem. Cut the cord and enjoy the freedom 😎

    Rob Cosman's Wood Hinge

Is this the hinge that requires Cosmans centre drilling jig at £130 from Classic Hand Tools. If it is, where do people buy the correct dowel making cutters. I never like the look of his home made dowel maker?

You could consider a diesel generator to power everything (lighting & heating) when you want it.

    Work Gloves Needed

Guys, I'm wondering if anyone has a UK recommendation for a brand of gloves that I can buy that are fairly thin and rubber for grip, but allow me to pick up my smartphone and swipe on the screen to answer it. Hopefully I'm not the first to want this ability in a pair of light workshop gloves...
