How do these cuts not cause kick back?

A simple solution might be for a woodworking channel on YouTube that was a Heath and safety approved educational channel, specifically approved for teaching the "correct" method of using tools and machinery. Each country could have their own health and safety channel. Or individuals could...

How do these cuts not cause kick back?

Every time the word “ machinery “ issues forth from his mouth, complete drivel follows. He actually said ( referring to woodwork with machinery) “ it can barely be called woodcraft “ I actually spat my coffee out when I heard that. It’s no wonder people underestimate the need to take machinery...

How do these cuts not cause kick back?

If I post a video on YouTube of the way that I work, its because that's the way that i work. I am not telling you to work that way. I have every right to show how I work. You apparently want to censor that, which is what you are talking about. You want to play parent to all the grown-ups, you...

Living is dangerous! driving to work is more dangerous than anything you can do in a workshop! Racing motorcycles at the Ilse on Mann is not for the faint of heart. We choose our poison, that's what you do when your an adult. You make your choice and you take responsibility for that. If I watch...

Paul Sellers says cap iron position doesn’t matter

"Obsessives" What exactly is Obsessive about having a handplane that works. Rather it seems somewhat dimwitted to have one that doesn't, You can use it some of the time, Soft wood, perfect grain, then you have to use something else, because it won't work for planning normal wood. You can use...

New supersurfacers start at around $25,000 That would be the Marunaka one in the video. they make larger ones that will cut up to 24" wide and special custom machines up to 40" wide for slicing plastic. Paul Sellers says cap iron position doesn’t matter

I taught woodworking classes in my shop in the evenings 40 years ago. The first two course that i taught were on wood structure, moisture content and wood movement, and tuning up handplanes. My thoughts are that you need to understand the tools and materials from the getgo. If you want to...

Paul Sellers says cap iron position doesn’t matter

A chipbreaker and a blade. The shape and position of the chipbreaker is not just important but critical! ( you may notice that there is no setting for 1/32" -1/8")

This should be required watching for anybody working in wood

Cabinetman, I didn't miss your point, but you apparently missed mine; There was nothing wrong with the video, just a man using traditional tools and workholding methods planing wood. Nothing wrong with that, but nothing special either. If you liked it... great, if you learned something...

Cabinetman, I am an old dog for sure 66. I too have been woodworking all of my life, my father was a carpenter and joiner also, so I got an early start. Marking and measuring...

For furniture making don't measure anything. Story sticks, pinch sticks, clamps, marking knife and a square. Transfer all mark-out lines from parts. You don't need to know what size they are.
