    Hegner lathe restoration

Hello fellas, I picked up the second hand Hegner lathe earlier this week. Members may remember I purchased this from the ebay a month or so ago. The lathe runs nicely but is in a tatty state, the previous owner admitted that it had not been used for years. I am sure with a bit of effort maybe...

Matching grain on all four corners of a box

Hello Brian, I managed to achieve your aim on this jewellery box I made a few years ago. There was no secret I just cut the four sides from one prepared length of oak. I used a simple mitre joint. No room for error though Brian :) Cheers, Tony.

    Hegner ebay scoop

Thanks fellas for the comments. I have arranged to collect the lathe in a few weeks time and will report back once she is home. Wise words Blister, to my mind £600 odd quid is a good buy for this machine, not to mention the accessories also included. :D Cheers, Tony.

    The Wheelwright's shop

Has anybody read this book by George Sturt? I have just picked up a copy from flee-bay and plan to make it my holiday read, in a week or two's time. Argh, sitting on the beach in sunny Dorset reading with a beer and my trusty pipe. Now that is luxury. :D T

    Countersink

Thanks fellas for the replies. I had not thought of using my router with a chamfering bit, and will give this ago. I have drilled the holes in my new workbench top, ready to use with Richard's holdfasts and a Veritas surface clamp. I think a small chamfer will help to protect the edges. Must...
