Hello Brian, I managed to achieve your aim on this jewellery box I made a few years ago. There was no secret I just cut the four sides from one prepared length of oak. I used a simple mitre joint. No room for error though Brian :) Cheers, Tony.

Hello fellas. Is it possible to reduce the length of lathe bed without compromising stability. Say from 5ft to 3ft? Wonder if anyone else has done this? Might be a crackpot idea Cheers Tony.
