Ax - FINAL ARRANGEMENTS, NAME BADGES

Hello shipmates, What a superb day Friday was, great to meet and catch up with so many forum friends. The lovely Hayley looked after me, John, charlie and Franco very well in the morning session, when we enjoyed an excellent guided tour of the very professional behind the scenes set-up. The...

Roubo bench project - WIP (UPDATE No 3 )

I am with it, although I am not sure I know the answer. I am sure the end did not have a thread part. I think it was the same diameter. I had to have the screw machined down at the end to fit the diameter of the hole in the hand wheel. This will vary depending on your wheel. If you could make a...

Roubo bench project - WIP (UPDATE No 3 )

Addendum, I just found the email reply from Veritas when I enquired about the screw thread diameter. I will check the diameter of the forstner bit I used, can't remember if this was 28mm or 30mm. I have been able, with some effort, to drag my bench away from the wall, the top lifts a little...

Roubo bench project - WIP (UPDATE No 3 )

Thanks fellas for the kind comments. To respond to a few points raised; Chems, I agree with your thought in away. I do think twice about drilling into the bench or wacking it with my hammer, and have a mat for my coffee mug! Although, as the bench gets used, I suppose it will age...

Roubo bench project - WIP (UPDATE No 3 )

Hello Mark, I used Veritas vice screw threads for both the leg and wagon vices on my bench. The diameter of the screws were too large to fit both handwheel centre holes and I looked everywhere for handwheels the correct size, to no avail. The job of reducing the diameter was beyond my skills or...

Using old furniture as a cheap source of timber

Fellas, I am sure this is not a new idea, but it would seem to make sense. Lot of timber here for 99p http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/solid-oak-double-door-large-wardrobe-/120822616688?pt=UK_Bedroom_Furniture&hash=item1c2196d270 I also like the idea of being able to make an item and possibly...

Sealing bare mdf on Jessem router table top - PVA ok?

Fellas, I would like to suggest sanding sealer. I painted three coats on an mdf work bench top and it is still looking good. Not sure about the Jessem router table, particularly the fence. The Kreg one looks a better design. I might be wrong? Tony
