    Dented Smoothing Plane

Hello Jez, I suffered a mishap with my Veritas LAJ. It was largely cosmetic but it really upset me, and every time I looked at it I was reminded of the mishap. (which I wanted to forget). I made touch with veritas and they suggested I return it for a warranty repair. I paid the postage to...

    uploading images using flickr

Help shipmates! I have to re upload all my images and Chris suggested I use Flickr. I have sent the pictures to flick, but I am having trouble getting them to appear in my post as a pic and not just a link. Perhaps one of you clever chaps knows the answer? Esc.

hinge fitting advice required to save the day.

I know the price is shocking    They are well made, and look good but it is hard to justify the expense. The way I see it they are so good, and catch the eye, they might just detract from the rest of my box, which is probably a good thing. Esc.

hinge fitting advice required to save the day.

Thanks for the replies fellas, I agree Jason - the instructions seem to be for the template! I think I will take up your idea Keith, I don't need to take off much to get it to work. Back to the shed for me! Happy days. Cheers, Esc.

hinge fitting advice required to save the day.

Hello all, I have some of these Brusso stop hinges (JB102) for my shoe polish box. http://www.classichandtools.com/acatalo ... inges.html and I am confused as to how to fit them. :? I neatly cut out a mortice in the box and lid but have just realised that it doesn't work as the barrel can't...

Help with a project decision - opinions required.

BB, I agree with Mike....what about a hand tool cabinet. The wood could then be left quite rustic for two matching doors. That way you can keep it for yourself and enjoy its look. You never know a project might just crop up in the future and then you can recliam and reuse it. Clever hey? Esc.

    Finishing procedure / advice required.

Top advice Gary, thanks mate. It seems quite straight forward. I grabbed my Axminster catalogue and looked up the liberon range. I can see the danish oil, but was not quite so sure about the wax. There seemed to be a few choices. Presumably a simple beeswax is all that is needed? Esc.

Fitting a kitchen - advice required.

Thanks for the advice fella's, I have printed out your tips and will refer to them when I make a start, hopefully next week. The girls in the office don't think I am up to the job, but they will be in for a shock! :) Cheers, Esc.

Fitting a kitchen - advice required.

Hello all, I promised the girls in the office that I would fit a row of kitchen units for them to use as a stationery store. I have taken delivery of some flat packed units, holes for hinges etc pre drilled. What is the best way to approach this job given that the floor is uneven and the wall...

    Finishing procedure / advice required.

Hello all, I have nearly finished work on my oak shoe polish box and my mind is turning to the finish. I was thinking of using Danish Oil, but have never used this before, is it an appropriate choice? and what is the procedure for application? which is the best make to buy? I have read that...

    Radar camera & speeding.

I've got one of those camera detectors in my car plus a secret gadget under the bonnet. It works very well, but it didn't stop me (on one occassion) getting a ticket from an unmarked van at the side of the road. :x It is not full proof. Esc.

    Estate Car Advice

Our second car is the Audi A6 Avant, a solid car by all accounts, if a little uninvolving to drive. (1.8T) Build quality is better than the Volvo though - you can check this by looking at second hand models and comparing wear on the inside etc. I thought the A4 was a bit small, not much rear...

    Sudbury Bash, at DaveL's place

Dave, I had hoped to escape to come over to see you and the gang today, but it is looking difficult now. It is my sons 4th birthday party and various relatives have called round with presents etc. There is also a party this afternoon and it is hard to leave. I hope you have a nice time and I...
