Souce of Formica HP laminate for Router Table

Hello John, Steve makes a good suggestion. I have just made a pillar drill table using an old kitchen cabinet door. (formica type material) This is a cheap solution, kitchen doors are a decent size for making jigs etc. If you can't get some of the real stuff, it might be worth a look...

The correct way to peel and eat a bannana

Continuing with my banana thread. Has anybody else attempted to dry (on the window sill) those long stringy strands from the inside skin, with the aim of smoking them? Mix a bit with some baccy and smoke in your favourite pipe. Highly recommended........just off to the shed for a quick...

The North of England Woodworking Show - 23 to 25 Nov.

Dibs, Thanks for the list of hotels. I quite like the look of the Craiglands @ Ilkley. The rooms seem half price for Friday night when compared with Saturday and at £54 thats not bad at all, with a breakfast, quite acceptable. I will check this out tommorrow. On this basis I suggest I drive...

Dibs, Thanks for the kind offer. Have you decided which day you plan to attend? If you could let me know which road /place/area to look for accomodation. I will do some research. I like the idea of a few beers and a curry, perhaps Dan will join us, or other members for that matter? Cheers, Esc.

    Drill press table for Byron

Topical post this one, as I'm in the process of completing work on my own drill press table. Hope to finish work next weekend so will post some pictures. I have made it from an old kitchen door with some incra T track and fittings. I have a square sacrificial insert, never thought of round...

    makita or lamello jointer

In deed I'm sure you right Rob. Although, when I saw a demo of the domino I thought the baby floating tenon pieces could easily double for biscuits. The domino would therefore seem to be more versatile than a biscuit machine. I don't have much experience so may have to leave this line of...

    makita or lamello jointer

I have the Lamello but have been wandering if I should have bought the Festool domino? In any event, the Lamello is very well made, a one time purchase when it comes to biscuit machines. Esc.

Competition entry WIP - making the most of what you have

A client of mine took some flying lessons and when I asked him what it was like he said. "It was like driving a car but with up and down as well as left or right". Given that explanation I do not plan to be going anywhere near a plane with him! Esc.
