Using a lathe to make a smoking pipe

Thats right Woody, 3 grams of baccy, 5 mins to load up, 1 min to light .... Who lasts the longest?. I think it was around 58 minutes to win the clay. Not a bad time at all. Although, I think the world record for 3 grams is over 3hrs. Ember chasing technique required to achieve at time like...

Using a lathe to make a smoking pipe

Hello there all, I am interested in having a go at making some smoking pipes with my new lathe. Here is a video of a lathe being used to make the initial shaping of the pipe bowl. http://www.tylerlanepipes.com/modules.p ... 0a%20Lathe I don't know whether members can tell What type of jaws /...

    Smoothing plane

John, I am not an expert but Alan makes a good point. The LV BU smoother has the same blade size as the Low Angle Jack you already have. This means you can interchange the blades and have different bevels on each blade. I saw the BU smoother at Classic Hand Tools last week, it is not pretty...

Dibs, I hear tell (from various reviews on the net) that the beer and food at this Bar T'at is very very good. Beer particularly. Have you been to this place? Is it worth staying there for grub? I sense if we go for the later I may need to book something. Maybe you could have a look and let me...

Well I have cast my vote fellow competitors and friends. To my mind two pieces stand out - Robert's sideboard and Sean's table. I like them both for different reasons. Top skills and workmanship for the beginners category. I have however decided to vote for Robert's sideboard. In my opinion...

    Any further news about Auriou?

I nipped over to CHT on Tuesday and had a rummage through the remaining rasps. I managed to pick up a no 9, 13 and 15. The handles are solid enough, but not pretty. In time I can replace these with something nice. I am glad I made the effort to secure a couple before it is to late. CHT still...
