I built my first box! One small step for mankind but a giant leap for this man. My partner is out to Scotland this week, visiting her parents with the girls and I had to stay down south. Had evenings all for myself and the weather helped, so I built my first box to store the girls’ toys. No...

The twins are 7 months old today and a couple of weeks ago we moved them to their own bedroom. I was not happy with a electricity socket at their reach and started thinking how to protect them but still have access to it. Well, things snowballed from there:

    New company, new career

Hi @Molynoox If I may recommend one book it is The Lean Start-up by Eric Ries. Some parts of it may be not relevant for your business but the core concepts and tools of the book are on how to test your business ideas/products/market in the quickest (and cheapest) way possible to adjust (pivot)...

    Drafting Machine (pre Sketchup!)

I may be late now for a reply… Back in the 80s my father had one of those at home on a huge A0 desk (both parents engineers may explain why I am an architect myself). The mechanism worked with the springs tensioning thick nylon threads, not chains. Edit: Fun fact, these were called ‘tecnigrafo’...

Black & Decker Workmate - Do you?

That will probably be my compromise sometime soon

Black & Decker Workmate - Do you?

I have a love-hate relationship with the workmate. I bought one when lockdown hit and we decided to renovate the garden: The workmate also was key for my first guitar build (a kit). That led me to more serious woodworking which outgrew the possibilities of the workmate. I upgraded it with a...

    Hi from Loughton, UK

Hi James, thank you. I was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro (some 4.000 km from you). I have visited Santarem once, more precisely Alter do Chao. Lovely place. I am afraid I don't know much about woodworking in Brazil since I really got involved after I moved here to the UK. I know your region...

Happy to help. That was supposed to be a prototype but I am pleased with the result. That's by no means an original idea, as I copied it from several YouTube videos. The running carts have a locking hex bolt on the side so you can lock for example the X axys or the Y axys and make sure that the...

Thank you, Lefley The rails are called Linear Rails. Those are from a company called Vevor but many other companies produce them. You can find on amazon. Those are 20mm but I believe you can also find them with 16mm rails (I think).

    Hi from Loughton, UK

Hi E.B.W. Yes, yours are definitely older. I am still counting the girl's age in weeks (10). I just checked your website and work. Great Tables! Is The Barn open to visitors?

Hi H. Squirrel, I confess that I have never heard of Men's Shed before. Just checked it and it seems a great initiative.

    Hi from Loughton, UK

Greetings everyone, I hope you are all well and safe. My name is Bruno and I am originally from Brazil but moved to the UK in 2019. I am new to woodworking and I don't have a proper workshop so I have to work on the garden deck (when the weather permits). I have successful assembled guitar...
