    Log Cabin Workshop 3.5m x 4.5m

This is what is written on the Government's Permitted development rights for householders Technical Guidance "Height” - references to height (for example, the heights of the eaves on a house extension) is the height measured from ground level. (Note, ground level is the surface of the ground...

    Log Cabin Workshop 3.5m x 4.5m

That is an interesting idea but I am afraid that this could mess-up the fitting of the doors requiring more adaptation and sure it would void the warranty. One idea I have considered is to substitute the pressure treated wood bearers for a composite material of same height.

    Log Cabin Workshop 3.5m x 4.5m

I just had the first hiccup of the project. Dunster House advertises that the delivery is between 1 and 15 working days, which in my case would be up to the 26th of April. Today they set the delivery date to the 9th of May which In my opinion is unacceptable (50% delay of schedule). I have the...

    Log Cabin Workshop 3.5m x 4.5m

Oh... wind around here is crazy. I am afraid I will wake up in Oz one day. Did you fit the storm bracers inside or outside?

    Log Cabin Workshop 3.5m x 4.5m

Hi @SimonB It falls under the permitted development rules. Theoretically I didn't need but I applied for a certificate of lawful development anyway. I added the location plans and the technical specs sheet from Duster House. It took 2 months but I received the Council's approval without any...

    Log Cabin Workshop 3.5m x 4.5m

Thanks for sharing, @Setch That's good to know. I have (very) little play to position the cabin on the base. Do you think I should try to align flush or overhang 5mm on a corner (front and one side, for example) to reduce splashing on at least 50% of the edges?

    Log Cabin Workshop 3.5m x 4.5m

Hi @Sachakins There is a rainwater drain on that "triangle". Was the original drain of the driveway.

    Log Cabin Workshop 3.5m x 4.5m

I have contacted Cuprinol technical team and they confirmed that their wood preserver and their Garden Shades line are compatible, so thanks @Yojevol for the suggestion. I asked if I could apply the preserver profusely on the individual pieces a couple of days before assembling and they replied...

    That's a good idea. Thanks.

    Log Cabin Workshop 3.5m x 4.5m

Thank you all for your replies and recommendations. @Sachakins under that pile of rubble (that needs to be cleaned out) is the original concrete driveway. The new concrete pour is to elevate it (around 50mm) and, most importantly, level it. On top of it will go the 50mm pressure treated bearers...

    Log Cabin Workshop 3.5m x 4.5m

Greetings, Today we started the works for my (small) home workshop. The house that we bought 2 years ago had a two-car driveway. We only have one car and no intention/need to have another so the extra parking was only being used when my in-laws come visiting (no more than twice a year). The...

Post a photo of the last thing you made

This is a collaborative effort with @Gandalfs Staff. Inspired by the Octavian Dan YouTube channel, it’s a low workbench designed for use in my kitchen. While the Council reviews my planning submission for constructing a workshop at the end of my garden, I can work on this bench. Once I’m done, I...

    My 12m2 workshop

Thanks for sharing Skottex. Very timely for me as I am waiting the Council approval to build mine exactly the same size! What kind of woodworking projects you had in mind when you set your workshop up?

    Quarter-sawn tonewood boards

Timberline and Exotic Woods UK also sell tonewoods for guitar building. Although their websites show guitar-specific size products, you might try to contact them and check if they have other sizes.

True, @Yojevol . I missed that detail. I believe then that this might be the one?

Oh... that one I know how to answer. They are interconnected. Check the construction process here.

    A new workshop.

Hi @MorrisWoodman12 , Congrats on you new workshop. I am about to embark on the same journey on a smaller model (4mx3m), same 44mm log structure. I hope you don't mind me asking a few questions. How are you finding the performance of the building? Did you insulate it? How is it dealing with...
