    Fly box

I want to make a wooden fishing fly box as a present for one of my colleagues who did me a big favour. Anyone got a design or any ideas? The commercially available ones I have seen after googling appear to have rounded corners and it is not easy to see details of the box design or construction...

    anyone using a folding rule?

The expensive light green tool company also made one - it is made of plastic and it seems accurate compared to a steel 1m rule. I can't find the part number of it but it looks like this one http://www.angliatoolcentre.co.uk/stabila-1607-wooden-folding-rule-2m-78in-pid1701.html

    knife block

Thanks both of you - I will go the way you describe shultzy btw how's your C26? Are the problems you had with it sorted? Mine is now fantastic since I got a 250mm 1.6mm thin kerf CMT blade, made myself a riving knife the same thickness, took off that big squaring frame and put a big old mitre...

    knife block

I have been asked to make a rather large knife block in bamboo..... not my idea I have to stress. She wants it to take 22 knives so it will be huge Has anyone done this? I can't quite work out how to cut the slots for the knives. I presume it must be done as a 'shell' - ie make the 'inside'...

    Axminster 10% voucher

Interestingly despite someone (can't remember who sorry) saying they had had an email saying that the 10% offer excluded Festool I went ahead and ordered a Festool item and at the 'checkout' online the 10% was deducted anyway - so maybe worth persevering

    Wanted Festool ATF55 saw....

    - because it can be mounted in a CMS table as a pull saw which is very accurate and precise. Festool stopped making it because it competes with their Precisio saws which would do for me except I can't make room for a Precisio and a CMS in my workshop.

    Wanted Festool ATF55 saw....

I am desperately looking for a 240V ATF55 saw - no longer made by festool and there are apparently none either in the UK or Germany on the shelves... somone somewhere must have one they no longer use / need. I would even consider exchanging it for my TS55 which is only a year old Regards Gasman

    riving knives

just to complete this thread.... in the end I ordered a 6" x 18" x 1/16" steel plate from Tilgear for £13 - then cut it with a festool metal cutting jigsaw blade which was like a knife through butter - then filed the edges down - the end result is marvelous - I can finally stop using a thin-kerf...

    Name Plaque

I have had good results when 'signwriting' in wood using the following technique: Decide on the font you want (use MS Word or similar to look at all the possibilities and font sizes) Print out the actual size of the font you want on adhesive paper (I use ordinary A4 labels paper) Stick the...

Has there been a gory accident thread yet?

to answer your original question, whilst a table saw is probably the commonest machine to cause woodworking injury, the hand is usually salvagable even if a few digits are missing - however, not so true of a spindle moulder - whilst injuries are rare, they usually require amputation. Another...

Has there been a gory accident thread yet?

I apologise for this story but it has its humerous side.... The hospital I work at has a 'trauma' list every day of the week running for 12 hours . There is often a power-tool-related accident of some sort waiting for surgery. One day a bloke came in with 2 fingers missing of one hand and half...

Festool TS55 - and the base plate.

The TS55 is difficult to control accurately without guide rails - they have another saw which is better for this - I think it is the AT65. The rep showed me it yesterday

    riving knives

Does anyone know a manufacturer of different thickness riving knives for a table saw? My table saw has a 2.5 mm kerf and I am looking for a 1.8mm riving knife as I like to use a much finer blade Any ideas - short of paying someone to make one or grind a thicker one down Thanks Gasman
