Morning all.
I'm making 2 shelves to go above 2 sinks. I want them to be floating shelves and woke up at 4am this morning pondering it. I wanted to know if anyone have tried making a floating shelf using a French cleat? In my head the physics seems to be fine, the shelf won't be holding a great...
Does anyone know the differences in Standard MDF and CaberWood MDF? I'm building a built in wardrobe and will be using MDF for the sides and shelves.
CaberWood is coming in 10 quid a sheet cheaper on the buildbase website so I'm wondering if if there's a reason for this.
Thanks in advance.
Nick

Ah, I knew some one would ask. I'm terrible at identification. I'm guessing beech, I'll get a picture and post it, you may be able to tell me.
I'm currently redoing the table which was pine in reclaimed oak (white I believe).
I've got some of those "farmhouse" style dining chairs. They're in need of a clean up (so I am reliably informed by the missus who seems to want replace them with some s**t from Next). As I'm incapable of throwing away anything that is; 1) wooden B) structrally sound & 3) "perfectly bloody fine...
I'm ditching my tumble dryer as the heating element has passed on to a better place and I've not tumble dried anything for 2 years. However, the motor runs just fine.
Does anyone know if a tumble dryer motor would be suitable for building a disc sander and if so any advice on the matter would...
I have acquired some veneers which I'm unlikely to get round to using. If anyone would like to have them there welcome to come and collect. Seems a shame for them to go to waste. If there are no takers I'll teach myself to veneer (perhaps) feel free to message me directly. I'll try to get some...
All sorts, I'm going to be building a standard double bed once I've moved along with a living room cabinet/bookcase. That will be my first real attempt it "fine" furniture.
I built a large rustic kitchen cupboard and shelving unit out of reclaimed scaffold boards, nothing special but sorted my...
I'm a hobbyist, no professional carpenter. I build for myself and occasionally family and friends if they request something. Each time I build something for a second time it's better than the first. That's where I get my enthusiasm, knowing I've learnt something from my imperfection.

I was looking at the bosch jts10j from axminster before I took the plunge on the cabinet saw. Axminster had the best price but no stock which pushed me to look for second hand. I lucked out on the Fox. I gave the guy £80 thinking the cast iron table was worth it and I could build around it, but...
