    Show us your Infill Mallets

I do not remember where I obtained this mallet, but as of today, I will call it an infill mallet (never heard the terminology before, but I really like it!). It is deceptively HEAVY. When it comes time to replacing the timber striking faces (soon to be required), it appears that most have...

I wish you lived closer. I would send you a turned brass/knurled knob to silver-solder on that screw!

Post a photo of the last thing you made

Started working on my saw till yesterday. It will be a rather plain, rectangular affair. But, I hate to waste even one square inch of storage space. I am having such a great time back in the shop! :) Verily, I had forgotten how much I enjoyed woodworking! Collecting my scraps of white...

On the topic of fine panel plane abuse, here are a few pics of my two abused NORRIS NO. 1's: (Being no expert on planes, please correct me if I have the model number wrong!)

Help with an older ULMIA Horned Moving Fillister Plane... No Depth Stop! (HOW I MADE ONE)

ADDENDUM- HEX KEY STORAGE: My thanks go out to rxh, who gave me this idea from his "Small Chamfer Plane" plane project! The hex key is a snug fit in the plastic fence body, with a rare earth magnet to provide an extra measure of retention.

    New member - bandsaw help

Agree with the multiple suggestions, especially a blade change for higher quality one, however, I would go with a coarser pitch. More room for the sawdust in the gullets. A more powerful motor is usually a good thing as well... :)

Who knows what this Vise (Vice on your side of the pond) is for?

Roughly, yes... If I can find where I put it, I will measure it.

Thanks, but I crop my pictures rather carefully to not reveal the true, embarrassing mess! Oh well, at least I have finally started to clean it up! Best wishes...

How do I lubricate and clean Diamond Sharpening Stones?

From the DMT website: I know it says to use the sharpener dry or with water, but can I use oil anyway? Can I store my DMT stone in kerosene? DMT recommends you use DMT products dry or with water only. Although mineral oil or WD40 will not harm the DMT products, they can impede sharpening...

Post a photo of the last thing you made

My final post on this floor cabinet. All the drawers and shelves are done. Yesterday, I mounted the tool chest on heavy-duty Accuride full extension slides, so I could open the top w/o removing the drawer above it.

How do I lubricate and clean Diamond Sharpening Stones?

I suspect that a generally available light machine oil may be too viscous to work properly, but the WD40 is so thin, that it seems to do the job well, and protect (to some small extent) from rust. I remember reading something about delamination of the nickle binder used to hold the diamond...

Who knows what this Vise (Vice on your side of the pond) is for?

My/our initial thought was that it came out of a WWI or WWII factory working on the Thompson sub-machine gun. Sadly, that lead was not fruitful. I consulted experienced persons on the "Vintage Machinery" website. They have seen one other example, but have no idea what it was used for. I...

How do I lubricate and clean Diamond Sharpening Stones?

Thanks for the info. Do you have any idea why? I have seen no degradation of my stones. I have had many of them, from (pretty-much) since they have been in business. My first (ex-coarse) 12" stone was dished in the center by 5 or 6 thou (if memory serves) and they replaced it. Again, thanks.
