TOOL STORAGE CABINETS & RACKS... WHAT TO DO IF YOU ARE NOT DONE BUYING???

Brothers... I HAVE A PROBLEM! You may have noticed that all my tool cabinets and racks are rather GENERIC... boxy, universal, non-specific, all-purpose... I love all those French-fitted tool cabinets, and am decidedly a proponent of "a place for everything and everything in its place"... Yet...

Need to do something with all those saved tomato sauce cans? It seems like whenever I go to an estate sale, I always add to my extensive collection of pencils! BTW, I have another big box full of them...

Today added a "blacksmith- style" hammer rack to the window area, below the brace rack.

I am always pleased to see others finding ways to restore tools rather than trashing them! Well done!

Back in the shop over the past few days making a RACK for my BRACES, etc.: It will hold up to eleven tools in the the slots, and more on the shelf. The brackets are made from scrap aluminum (or "al-u-min-i-um" on your side of the pond  ): ADDENDUM... continuing to fill the saw till:

I use hardened silicone caulk tubes as well. Rather than discarding them, give it a go. They work well-enough...

What are the most beautiful tools that you own

Thank you Derek (sincerely)... it is good for me to get a little humility back in my life! :) When I see the works of craftsmen like you, I realize that there is a lot left for me to learn.

What kind of woodworker are you?

At the risk of offending, I must pass this on: "Wisdom... is knowing what to do. Skill... is knowing how to do it. Virtue... is doing it."

    WANTED robert sorby pro edge

Hello Dan, I am ignorant regarding the availability of Grizzly products in the UK, but... I bought one of these belt grinders a few months ago, and am very pleased with it. It may be a less-expensive alternative to the Sorby. The tool rest is perhaps not as robust as the Sorby, but, making an...

Not quite right? Very fine work IMO... I am sure your son is very pleased! Projects this small are quite difficult to execute, again, IMO. I have discovered a truism in my woodworking: I am the most critical scrutinizer of my own work. Most people do not notice the little things... :) .

My wife has made the same comment to me! However, I wish I had retired sooner! Nail guns, like power tools, are at times, essential bits of kit, IMO!

Consider getting one if/when the opportunity presents itself... I doubt you will regret it! ;)

Who made this TYZACK panel plane?

Rob, thank you again! You are absolutely correct. This Tyzack plane is indeed a Slater! I am so happy to know this! As I said, I have a fondness for Slaters. I found the identical plane on the Slater website: https://www.slaterplanes.com/slater-panel-planes/ SLATER...
