Yes, of course... however, I am sure you will love them. I recommend the coarser grits (if you are like me). My address is: 1600 Pennsylvania Ave NW Washington, DC 20500. When you stop by, just ask for "Joe"... :ROFLMAO:. P.S. Please update us with your first impressions!

Putting wood on the rest is a good idea. I think I will try adhering some Formica to it. I have a lot of scrap Formica, and it should be durable!

    Sharpening

For whatever my opinion may be worth, I have a few comments. I have been sharpening my chisels, plane irons, and turning tools for decades on a bench grinder with conventional grinding wheels and adjustable aluminum Veritas rests. The Veritas rests were a huge improvement over the stock rests...

The story of an old, long-used, infill plane...

Hello Brothers, This is an old infill plane from my collection. It is rather small. The sole is only 7 1/4 by 2 1/2 inches. I think it has been prior restored on several occasions. I don't remember where where I obtained it, but it was quite rusty when I got it. The horn was broken off...

    Five favourite quotes.

Only five? That will be difficult... sorry, I just can't do it! :dunno: 1) "Experience is a dear teacher, but fools will learn at no other." -- Benjamin Franklin, 1706-1790. 2) "Wisdom... is knowing what to do. Skill... is knowing how to do it. Virtue... is doing...

Anyone recognize the brand? B&T GRAY SHEFFIELD (BACKSAW)

Gentlemen, I did a little research, and found that this book (British Saws and Sawmakers from 1660 by Simon Barley) appears to be the gold standard for UK backsaw information. I found a used library copy in the UK, shipped to the USA for just over $40 US. I will count myself fortunate, and...

Anyone recognize the brand? B&T GRAY SHEFFIELD (BACKSAW)

Hello all. Thanks for the info and comments. I appreciate it very much. Yeah, I replaced the nuts the way I found them. The square indentation from the screw head was on the wrong side, so I went with it as is, not wanting to bugger things up. I believe this is visible in the pictures, if...

Anyone recognize the brand? B&T GRAY SHEFFIELD (BACKSAW)

Thank you, John. The saw nut organizer was not my idea. I found it on one of the many saw restoration YouTube videos that I reviewed. Some think that they might be best returned to the hole from which they came. I am not certain that it is of consequence, but is simple enough to do, so that...

    Garden Find - 810g Warrington Hammer's Age?

Would love to see some pics of the finished product. I have a 2 x 42 inch belt grinder, and would clean it up with that. Works well for me. A lot of meat left on that big hammer!

Wood carving hand tools: Vintage vs. NEW / Modern

I am no carving expert. I have a mix of both. They both work. I buy the old tools when the price is right. Rust and some pitting is less of an issue since you can often apply bevels on both sides of the edge.

Why you need a well cambered blade on a No7

I will readily admit that my planing skills fall short, even of my own impoverished standards, necessitating all manner of allowances to avoid frustration. I am still at the stage where I have some difficulty planing the edge of (especially narrow) boards square. This has become all the worse...
