Does anyone know intended the use of this plane?

Does anyone know intended the use of this plane from Glasgow? Unusual profile. I am thinking perhaps some type of sash plane... (?) The fence only moves about 1/2" or so...

Has anyone used: "WOODWORKING MAGAZINE INDEX"? https://www.woodworkingmagazineindex.com

Post a photo of the last thing you made

Working lately on wall and floor cabinets for my shop. Both are a work-in-progress... The wall cabinet (top two pics) has only the right-hand door completed to date. I then interrupted this project to build the floor cabinet below in order to open-up some room and de-clutter the shop. The...

HELP FINDING A WOODWORKING MAGAZINE INDEX?

Dear Sirs, I have been a subscriber to many wood & metal working magazines for decades. I now have trouble finding articles that I have read in the past. Looking through all my magazines to find one particular article is a daunting task. Is anyone aware of a published INDEX? There have been...

    Cobalt Drills

Dear Sir, I do not have a recommendation for a particular brand of cobalt drill bits, as I have purchased all of mine as used industrial surplus, but I highly recommend owning a set. They are far tougher than HSS! I love mine! When it come to re-sharpening them, I have multiple drill bit...

Turning old farm building into workshop

I tend to be pragmatic when it comes to architecture 🤤... and life in general for that matter! A sound British attribute, I believe. I am pretty sure I was British in a previous life! :) (BTW, we are all wishing the best for Princess Kate and the Royal Family.)

3 phase to 1 phase electrics?

Static phase converters are inexpensive and work very well IMO. I have purchased two of these over the years and have had no regrets! They are simple to wire. Keep all you "old iron"! :)

Turning old farm building into workshop

Thank you! Yes, it has worked out in the end, but (the drawback) at age 66, I am now just getting back into actual woodworking, rather than construction! Of course, over the past 24 years I have been involved with numerous other projects around the farm, including adding a wrap-around front...

Turning old farm building into workshop

I had to restore a barn for my workshop when my wife & I moved to a rural farmstead 24 years ago. I did almost all the work alone. Yes, it is far more difficult, but it can be done. There are several books on working alone (e.g. "Working Alone: Tips & Techniques for Solo Building" by John...

    Fighting with boxing

Aesthetics aside, I suspect it will work just fine. I would happily live with it as is! Or, perhaps a nice gap-fill job with shellac sticks? Just don't tell anyone! ;) It looks like most of the joint is sound. I doubt it will fail. I wish I had your skills...

Help with an older ULMIA Horned Moving Fillister Plane... No Depth Stop! (HOW I MADE ONE)

Yes... I may have too many! (Don't ask me to define that :)) And the "neatness" is truly limited to the extent of the photograph only! In lieu of actually doing any woodworking, I frequented yard sales and auctions, throwing all into boxes piled high. I am now opening the boxes! Every day...

    Moving Fillister Refurbishment

Lovely plane... excellent restoration... performed with much care and skill. I suspect you have done this many times in the past. Well done! The results speak for themselves... that dado is far better than any of mine, and I have tried a vintage wooden MFP like yours, an Ulmia model, and a...
