    Reamer DIY

Thanks for posting. I now know what one of my tools is for! It was a mystery... it has no handle (yet!).

Post a photo of the last thing you made

Very clever! I really like it, but fear that if I sat on it, it would come crashing down. Yes, I am somewhat rotund!

Update: most of the shelves and drawers are now completed. A very versatile design. The shelves and drawers can be moved around to wherever they might be needed.

Thanks for posting. I have a collection of these bench stops, but have never seen this brand before.

    Wood mallet

I turned a mallet from a piece of dense red oak over 30 years ago, then wrapped it in leather. It has held-up exceptionally well. It is my go-to mallet in the shop. The wood came straight out of the firewood pile. Round mallets are easier to make (if you have a lathe) and work better than...

    Record 044 without cutter clamp

I have the same problem. I have downloaded all the pictures I could find of it, and hope to make one out of brass or cast iron in the future. It should not be too difficult if you have a small vise and a few files...

How do I lubricate and clean Diamond Sharpening Stones?

WD 40 is my go-to fluid for diamond stones. Works great IMO...

A maze of threads. Stanley, Marples, Record and all etc:-

Many years ago, when I first started buying and restoring planes, I came across this same problem. Stanley uses "non-standard" threads. My answer was (conveniently) to purchase my first (not last) metal lathe and make my own. Food for thought... :)

Stanley No.45 spurs. Where can I get some?

Dear Sir, I have, like most of us, had the same problem in the past. I have a source (in the USA) that may satisfy your requirements. (Free shipping in the USA, so I suspect that shipping to the UK should be reasonable.) I discovered that Stanley still makes the spurs for the No. 45 (or...

Nickers or spurs for Stanley 39 Planes?

Thank you but too expensive for my DIY tastes... :)

Nickers or spurs for Stanley 39 Planes?

Thank you very much! :ROFLMAO: I looked it up... yes, I do not need "knickers"... will edit if possible.

Nickers or spurs for Stanley 39 Planes?

Has anyone found a source for new Stanley 39 Plane nickers/spurs? Or, perhaps made some (DIY) from scratch? These consumables seem to often be missing from eBay & other used tool sites. I am contemplating making some from band-saw stock or thin O1 material...

    Metal cart/stand

I need to get one of those grinders! For now, I have a Grizzly 2 x 42" (also takes 2 x 48" belts) grinder. Good enough for now but much lighter duty than yours (probably a 2 x 72"?).

Does anyone know intended the use of this plane?

Wow! I find this amazing. It has come full circle! Back to Scotland! Thank you so much for the post and picture!

Does anyone know intended the use of this plane?

Thank you all. Absolutely spot-on! Sash meeting rail, or perhaps sash meeting lintel?

First drawer made... the scrap wood is difficult to work with, but I will try to discard my type-A tendencies:
