    Workshop Flooring Options

Based on my experience, Shane, the first two options look decent. If I was looking again, I’d probably consider the first one initially. I’ve used Ark Solutions for other needs before. I don’t have any items that need regularly moving around and so it’s worth bearing in mind Pete’s experiences...

    Workshop Flooring Options

Shane, I went for stable matting in the end from our local equestrian suppliers as they did free delivery and helped me lug them to the workshop. I paid £48 apiece for 6x4. Their weight offsets any movement where I butt them up to each other although where I’ve cut them and the join is short...

PLEASE HELP if you use British Hardwoods (Keighley)

I’m another regular user of British Hardwoods as I’ve found the range and quality unsurpassed in terms of my needs. My wife shakes her head in resignation when she knows I’m going there and says she never sees me so excited! She’s used to me saying she should try harder then 😀. I like Duffields...

Things you say that got you into the dog house.

My wife has a good sense of humour but a couple of things I’ve said that stand out as not going to plan are - “Rather than incessantly criticising me, why don’t you write it all down daily and then I can read it all whilst I’m on the bog Saturday”. Or having been told I was boring I said “l’m...

Moving 18mm sheets without killing myself

I feel your pain - literally. It’s something I’m constantly trying to work out a better way of achieving after I had a couple of operations on my neck 18 months ago requiring nearly 90 stitches, leaving me weaker that side and resulting in difficulty lifting heavy objects, particularly if...

    Retirement options

I retired early a couple of years ago by choice but driven by a relentless workload that was preventing me from relaxing or sleeping properly. That said, I enjoyed most aspects of my work bar primarily the politics and of course ever increasing expectations across my wider peer group, which was...

    Sliding Mitre Gauge different slides

@Wend, I have the same bandsaw and was equally frustrated with the slight slop in the guide and the fact there seemed to be no after market options. I was able to tighten this up with some electrical tape placed the full length and wrapped up onto the edge. This nicely snugged it into the...

    Protecting oak sleepers

We were looking at doing something similar but were concerned about longevity and the agro’ of having to replace and so have opted to install gabions instead. I love the industrial look and the test one I loosely installed blended surprisingly well with the stone path, small gravelled area and...

    Planning Application Objection

We’re going through final drawings preparation at the moment; nothing out of keeping with the type of property or village but simply to make our home more internally usable. When we were going through the beauty parade to chose one of three architects recommended to us, the first one sat down...

    Laminated Sheet Material Suppliers

I’ve used Lawcris too and when the showroom was open pre-pandemic, they have a superb selection to look through with samples which I believe are still available online. More recently, I’ve had to chase them for quotes on stock or costs, but haven’t come across that before so assume it’s...

    Workshop Flooring Options

I'd trawled through the auction sites previously, Steve but not seen this particular one which seems to offer samples too. Larger orders are pallet delivered which would be useful so I'll make contact and see what stock they have as the advert suggests it's limited. Thanks for the tip-off

    Workshop Flooring Options

I hadn't thought of this, Dave so will make some enquiries - many thanks

    Workshop Flooring Options

Thanks Blackswanwood, I had looked through the forum and read the 2016 post - ironic that fresh comments were only posted earlier today. I’m familiar with Caberfloor at a high level only but a quick look at its properties don’t suggest to me that it will have the fatigue application I was...

    Workshop Flooring Options

Hi, Having recently relocated, we've bought a house with an 3m x 6m garden studio which after some finessing will become my workshop, this being an upgrade from the garage at our last house. It's log cabin style with plaster-boarded internal walls over insulation, with the ceiling to match...

    Good experience with BT Openreach

We’ve had similar experiences with BT - do what they say they’re going to do and when they’re going to do it. “Slotting in” an extra job like you describe can often be taken for granted but hats off to them for doing so. Our recent experiences with Sky TV service is regrettably less heart warming.
