    That would make sense , in this case then a drill bit 5 to 6mm for the 'pilot'

    Hi Ihad read somewhere to use a pilot hole. Also wonder if it woukd split the wood?

    Dear all What drill bit diameter and bit type would you recommend for 6.7mm timberfix screws. They are 150mm long. I have a 6mm Auger bit which seems ok but wonder if I need a smaller pilot hole as they are for tying down green oak rafters for the roof of a gazebo project (images attached)...

    Its a low pitch of 4 degrees James as needs to be less than 2.5m tall so I think those options are not suited?

    Hi I am planning to pit a monopitch roof on my timber frame. Ordering oak rafters in and will use 15mm ply boards on top of the rafters followed but box profile roof sheets. What is recommended to secure the whole thing into the timber frame below? Thank you Jon

    Thanks Mike There will be a gap all round between beams and roof so guessing that would reduce uplift considerably?
