    what are CLIFTON doing.....

The development appears to have been done... ...in green  Cheers, Vann.

    I'm going to collage :)

Okay, so that's a mis-quote - but I'm sure it's what you meant to say  But seriously, thanks for the update Toby. I enjoyed your "ramble". Keep it up. Cheers, Vann.

    what are CLIFTON doing.....

I think the green colour looks far better than the grey, but I too wish Thomas Flinn every success with the Clifton brand. Cheers, Vann.

    what are CLIFTON doing.....

Speaking of hanging on to every word... several years ago Andy King wrote an article about Clico in which he says... Hmm... Morrisons or Ridgeway? I don't know who that woman is Andrea, but I think she must be Italian. Doesn't the Pope wear that colour too sometimes.... Cheers, Vann.

A sad tale of the one that got away

Hmm, Welsh "vegetable" fair. When I write something dodgy it gets turned into "pineapple". I think the moderators on here maybe have a fruit and vegetable fetish. I hope the OP takes action and the ratbag gets caught. However, if you do get your plane back Richard, I hope...

    what are CLIFTON doing.....

I'd have thought that Quangsheng would have the biggest impact on Clifton sales. Secondhand Record and Stanleys have always been around, it's those of us looking for something new/better who would be potential Clifton purchasers. But Quangsheng and the new Stanley Sweethart range would be...

    what are CLIFTON doing.....

I own two Cliftons - a No.3 and a No.4 1/2. I'm very passionate about them. I like the BR Green and am dissappointed that's changing. The wonky stamp doesn't worry me (a sign of the manufacturing process), and I've fitted two-piece cap irons to a number of my non-Cliftons. However, two things...

    Old back saw restoration advice

Hah, and who says English is the universal language?!!!?? Over here I think we'd call that a Gibraltar board (or gib board) taping knife, but it's about the same as a wide scraper (those wooden handled, steel bladed knives, as made by Crown or Footprint). Right, that's done - I'll just pop...

    S&J Hand Planes

Early Acorn planes seem to be well made, while the later - Stanley era - were second rate budget planes. The early Acorn (left) has the frog mating surface angled very much like a Bedrock. It has the potential to be a good plane IMHO. The later Stanley-Acorn has a single horizontal (painted...

Only if they took their lathes with them... I'll get my hat... Cheers, Vann.

New Mistery Veritas Stuff: Custom Bevel Down Planes

Beautiful - I want the whole set. So let me see: five sizes, each with 3 (standard) frogs, that makes 15 planes; each with two different totes, that makes 30 planes; each with 3 different knobs, that makes 90 planes; each with 2 different irons - only 180 planes to collect. HONEY ! We're...

New Mistery Veritas Stuff: Custom Bevel Down Planes

Ahh, but how do you know? Surely there are two times each day with equal claim to being 12pm. The first being one minute before 12.01pm; and the 2nd being one minute after 11.59pm :-? :-s Cheers Vann.

New Mistery Veritas Stuff: Custom Bevel Down Planes

http://www.leevalley.com/us/home/page.aspx?p=72236&c= Hmm... A power tool or a storage system maybe? 12:00pm, whens that? I thought it was 12 noon or 12 midnight! 11:59am, 12:00 noon, 12:01pm or 11:59pm, 12:00 midnight, 12:01am... (hammer) Cheers, Vann.

New Mistery Veritas Stuff: Custom Bevel Down Planes

What problems do you have in Nederland, buying direct from Lee Valley? In UK they seem to get taxed on everything, so that it's seldom worthwhile. Over here in New Zealand, so long as the value is not much more than $500 NZD, we don't even have to pay GST - which means decent savings can be had...

    Auger Bits

Boot sales are like hens teeth where I am, and the few garage sales I've been to have had no old tools. On line auctions are a real gamble and probably 50% plus augers are butchered in some way, or seriously rusted. Anyway I bought the No.15 (15/16") as I hadn't managed to pick up one of that...

    Find of the day...

Very nice. I just love those sexy spoked crank wheels (unlike the Marples & Footprint double pinion drills (hammer) ). If only SWMBO had legs that shapely... I take it that it's a No.1, or 1A? http://oldtoolheaven.com/hand_drills/drill1.htm Cheers, Vann.

    Auger Bits

With recent threads discussing the future of Clifton and Clico, I was very pleased to read that Clico will continue to manufacture auger bits. From that thread: In another thread I mentioned that I had bought some auger bit files from the States. At the same time I bought two auger bits Auger...
