    speed control switch

I notice in the excellent photos @ajs has posted there are three cables exiting the box. One is incoming mains and a second must be the motor: what is remaining one, the one on the right? Am I correct in assuming it's the little puffer motor thingy that blows the dust away? I also notice the...

    speed control switch

I've just revisited this thread and have two comments. @ajs suggested a particular speed control pot, one with a metal shaft. From a safety point of view this would not be recommended because the pot is connected to the incoming mains live. One with a non-conductive/plastic shaft would be...

Am I doing something wrong here? Track saw and splinter guards

I have and use the Evolution 2800mm tracksaw and don't have problems. When I first set it up I did, like @MikeJhn , make sure there was minimal play between the saw and the track. Can't imagine what causes your particular problem unless there is play. Martin

Advice needed for wiring a segmented lighthouse lamp

In essence yes. You can't wire all three 4.5V LEDs in series as this would need 3 x 4.5V = 13.5V to work. So either each LED should be wired in series with a 150R / 1W resistor across the supply. Alternatively two LEDs can be wired in series and in series with a 56R 1/4W resistor across the...

Advice needed for wiring a segmented lighthouse lamp

Dom. Hi! If you have a 12V spotlight why not use a 12V power supply? The bulb can go directly across the supply. Is your LEDs are 4.5V then two in series gives 9V and if at 56mA (0.056A) gives a resistor of about 53 Ohms or 56 Ohms nearest preferred value (NPV). A 1/4W should suffice. For any...

Advice needed for wiring a segmented lighthouse lamp

Have you considered getting a plug in power supply? They are readily available at many online retailers for less than £15 or so. I would recommend RS or CPC/Farnell as you will get a properly approved device not something from a questionable source. This way all your safety issues are under...

Are you aware that Stannah Stair Lifts now offer a turbo lift? It gets you upstairs so quickly that you don't have time to forget what you want up there. 🤣🤣

    What is this electronic component?

I cannot recommend your suggestion unless the OP knows what he is doing. Otherwise it could be lethal.

    What is this electronic component?

I second @Sideways it is a Radial Leaded Common Mode Chokes / Filter. Farnell has over 2000 listed but it's going to be an almost impossible job finding that particular one assuming it isn't one made for that particular design. Whereabouts in East Sussex are you? I'm just outside Uckfield...

    Charcuterie board

You're right @Terry - Somerset but one piece being upside down won't produce this effect. My guess is that the bookmark looks better on the reverse side of the complete board. Martin

    Charcuterie board

No, no! Definitely not! 😁 A mistake! What's one of those? I understand features and opportunities but mistakes alludes me. Definition please. 🤣 BTW What's the little square to the left of the bow tie in the last picture?

Hey! Something's wrong here: that's EIGHT jokes in a row without any serious comments. Is this a record? 🤣🤣🤣

    speed control switch

The thing which strikes me is the size of the 'heatsink'. The data sheet seems to indicate 10degC/W minimum at a 1A load. There is no way 10degC/W is going to be achieved with that small lump of ally when it's not attached to something bigger. So is the problem because the 604A going into some...

    Software for planning application

How about LibreCAD. It's AutoCAD/TurboCAD-ish, pretty easy to use, plenty of online tutorial videos and it's FREE.

Post a photo of the last thing you made

A seed box for t'missuss. The divisions can be moved back and forth to create larger or smaller groups for the different months as needs vary throughout the year. One side for veggies the other for flowers - or that's what I'm told.

    Biscuit Jointers

The problem with 4mm biscuits in thinner materials as others have already said is the swelling with the glue. However the resulting witness marks on the outside may not be a problem for workshop jigs, cupboards etc. Can anyone advise if the biscuits swell with a different adhesive, eg. epoxy?

    A new workshop.

@BCS1980UK @Yojevol Bruno, Brian. Hi! I think Bruno's second answer is nearer the mark. My w/s corner assembly is as in my sketch below. There are two screws going into the ends of each 44mm wall board through a 44mm square corner post. You have to be a little careful to get them far enough...

    A new workshop.

@BCS1980UK Bruno. Hi! Good luck with building your own workshop. It's not that difficult especially if there are two of you. You certainly need another's help for some bits. I'm not sure how to answer re performance: it's a fancy shed after all. It does the job and does it well. I have...

    Glue spreader?

I've often thought I'd 3D print a thin toothed square but not as yet got a round-twoit to complete it.
