Electric Multi Function Tools the cheaper ones and Gas Central Heating Boilers

I bought an Erbauer multi tool from Screwfix about year or eighteen months ago for about £80. It came with several blades one of which was a 'power scraper' blade as described above by sideways. I've not tried that particular blade but find the multi tool excellent for those cutting jobs you...

Doesn't the folding feature also make it easier to make? Fewer joints.

    Bambu lab buying advice

@kinverkid please correct me if I'm wrong but you are using rather than the P1S. However I expect it is much the same with the Bambu. Hmmm!

    Bambu lab buying advice

I am seriously considering either the Bambu P1S or the much more expensive X1-carbon. The main difference in my opinion is the operating interface. The X1C has a largish touch screen while the P1S has a LCD screen and buttons. Reviews suggest the P1S interface is somewhat clunky. However I see...

    Bambu lab buying advice

What a timely thread. I have an ancient Robox (2014)which only comes with the CURA slicer which has zero adjustability. Just this last week or so I've been considering upgrading to the much recommended Bambu, the P1S or X1C. I can see the AMS module would be very useful. I've been using ABS...

    Using ChatGPT with OpenSCAD

I've been considering replacing my ancient Robox printer now about 10 years old. It was very much ahead of its time: self levelling and worked straight out of the box. It's a real shame they didn't take off better. I don't know why. Price perhaps? Mine was £1500 in 2014! I've been thinking...

If you haven't seen this thread I suggest you read it. Sorry I don't seem to be able to post a proper link. (Don't know how to do so) Martin. General Workshop Discussion CNC, 3D Printing, and LASER Considering dipping toe into 3d printing so what do you think of this one?

    Using ChatGPT with OpenSCAD

@John Duffy My advice, for what it's worth, is buy one. 😁😁 When I bought one in about 2014 a very good engineer friend asked "what on earth would I want that for? " My 'new' partner didn't see what it could ever be used for when I told her I had one (I was single when I bought it). Both...

How to join Decking Board at 135°

Ah! Irrational woodwork is a wonderful thing to behold. But does it look like Escher's drawings? 🤣🤣

How to join Decking Board at 135°

Can't you buy flat joining strips and bend them to 135°? Or buy steel strip and make them. You wouldn't need to countersink any holes you drill as the screw heads would, presumably, be hidden. I'd make a jig to clamp to my drill press (assuming you have one) so I don't have to keep marking...

    Exterior House Design software

I'm updating the outside of the house bought a couple of years ago. Do we render or use cladding of some sort or what? But those tiles have to go! I'm looking for a chunk of software (windows) that will allow me to mock up and visualise the outside of the house for the various finishes. Does...

+1 Tried removing statins but no difference to aches and pains and cholesterol increased. I have hypertension (runs in the family) which was first diagnosed at 52 when I was still med free.

Cutting dog holes in laminate? Melamine / laminate workbench top

I'm with bingy man well almost. I use an equal mix of varnish, blood and white spirit as recommended by Chris Schwartz. Works well. You can wipe off the glue, stain etc yet still gives a bit of grip - probably better than melamine, formica etc.

    Flattening a “slab”

Make a flattening jig. I did when initially flattening my bench top and subsequently when flattening some table decorations more akin to your oak slab. Cobble together a couple of 'angle-irons' in wood (30×30 + 50×10 wood) longer than the slab + your router. Join at each end so the 50×10 is in...

    LED advice needed

Spectric's Microchip CL25 is a great little device and very simple to use. Be aware though that it needs at least 5V across it while it's operating so with, say, a 2V LED you will have to have at least 7V input so a PP3 battery (9V) or seven AA's in series (7V5).

    LED advice needed

A couple of typical lifetime calculations. IF you end up running the LEDs at 20mA then with a typical 9V PP3 square battery of 300 to 400 mAh lifetime will be 15 to 20 hours. A typical AA cell is 1000 to 1500 mAh giving a lifetime of 50 to 75 hours. Of course doubling the current will halve...
