Pillar drill chuck falls off - replace spindle?

Surely if it's a male taper you want to cool it so it shrinks. It will expand as it warms and then when fitted the taper grip will loosen when it's cooled. Perhaps it's better being cooled so it expands after it's fitted. Of course I know very little about these matters................. Have...

Anyone got a mcallister mitre saw stand

The one I just purchased was ~£800 - Bambu Labs P1S - and is more or less ready to go from the get-go. However printers are available from a couple of hundred if you are prepared to spend loads of time assembling it and fettling it everytime you want to print. So basically anything from a couple...

    Charity Shop finds.

I have two bubble sticks though I haven't heard them called that before. The 8" one I bought in my youff; the 6" I inherited from my father. I still use them occasionally though they are difficult if you can't look at them from above. They look just like the one in the first set of photos.

    Baking

I'm a bread maker guy. Tesco sourdough mix, add a dozen chopped dried apricots and a quarter teaspoon of fennel seeds and three hours later a great tasting loaf. Or a Waitrose bread mix with half teaspoon of thyme otherwise it's pretty bland.

    Tablet/phone charging

It could be that your motor home 5V/2A adaptor specification isn't correct or it's not well regulated so that it's output drops as the load current increases. Also does the 12V at the adaptor remain at 12V when you plug the adaptor with phone in?

    Introductions

And I'm an Essex boy, Braintree then moved around: St Ives Camb, Hinxton Saffron Walden, so yes my favourite chunk of countryside albeit not the prettiest. Then married an East Sussex girl so now living there! Welcome Joe. There are lots of knowledgeable people here who don't mind sharing their...

Not that old. Only a year or so more than me. Like cheese we're fully matured. 😇

    Router speed control

my first thought is that that is a 'simple' phase angle controller. Is it possible to remove the circlip shown in your third picture showing the underside of the pot? It may be a standard readily available pot underneath. Be careful not to lose the clip though.

    Router speed control

I've never seen anything like it in the 50 years since starting in the electronics industry. To me it looks like a special especially with that contact built into the back. Does it disassemble any further? BTW the last digit on resistors and caps is usually the number of zeros such that 254...

    A Handle....

Such a shame to have had to dismember that whatever- it-was. Would have made a great, albeit smallish cider/perry press. Sorry to hear about your failing health. All the best to you Ian from a fellow Essex man. Martin

Latest thing you have printed / machined / cut

@fezman That looks a wonderfully smooth print from your X1C. I've just bought a P1S but yet to finish getting it going. I've just about completed the job for which I have a deadline so this week hopefully.............. Also interested that you've been using onshape as I'm thinking of trying...

    Need to escape/reset

@Stigmorgan I think you mentioned in another thread that the dreaded inspection was yesterday. I hope it went well and the inspectors were appreciative of the efforts you and V have made.

    Bambu lab buying advice

So I've bitten the bullet and my new Bambu P1S c/w AMS has arrived and been unpacked. It's sitting on my 'office' workbench waiting for me to find time to set it up. SWMBO wants me to finish the en-suite refurb first so it'll have to wait a couple of days. 🥺 Martin

Routing for an Inset induction hob

I would certainly use a larger template where you rout on the inside. That way if you don't keep the guided router bit tight enough to the template then the 'error' is into the waste material rather than wrecking your worktop. Have fun Martin

    Hello

Welcome Buzzer. Keep your pecker up during your difficult time. You seem to have the right attitude in not being afraid to seek help and support so I'm sure you're going to be OK. @Steve O'Dell I've just had a look at the rammy men site: what an incredible and inclusive organisation and I can...
