    AVO meter repairs.

You can still get them. Thomas and Betts from distributors like Farnell. Still the best IMHO.

    AVO meter repairs.

I'm glad someone else calls them tyraps! Everyone looks at me peculiarly when I say that so I have to change to cable ties. I recall soaking PVC? sleeving in tric (trichoroethalene?) until it increased in size, putting it on the cable and letting it shrink back to normal. Happy days. Oh and BTW...

    AVO meter repairs.

I remember learning how to lace looms as an apprentice under the tutelage of an ex-Marconi (Chelmsford) wireman but I've forgotten the knot these days. I do recall however that you could break the lacing anywhere and it would not unravel.

I'm probably being extremely dense this morning but BIN? Fantastic cabin bed though. Would have loved to make one for my grandsons but at 15+ now it would have to be a long one.

    AVO meter repairs.

Well this thread is a trip down memory lane! I remember many of the companies mentioned and some bits of kit. I was less into the instrumentation side than scientific instrument design before going off to industrial ink jet printing and semiconductor lasers. Who introduced the first storage...

    Volts, amps etc.

@Kittyhawk I'm a bit worried about your statement: It looks as though you're overloading the PSU/transformer. I would expect it to get hot, well at least warmer than it should, but doubt it caused the fan to fail. If designed properly the PSU will include a thermal fuse that catastrophically...

    Looks more Chinese-English. Definitely convoluted.

How to create low poly plans?

I don't know how many polygons you have, hopefully not too many, but can you place a feature of known size (for scaling only) on each polygon so you can scale it properly after you have extracted each one? Hope this helps. Martin

Is the Metabo HC260 any good? Currently dimensioning with bandsaw and handplanes.

I've had an old Elecktor-Bekham HC260 for several years now and can thoroughly recommend it.As Yojeval said you'll have to adjust the fence to get a decent 90° but apart from that it will serve you well. Have fun. Martin

@L M Joinery - You must tell us your secret. I can never ever get my two legged tables or stools to stand upright. 🤔

    Recommend a PCB printing service?

When I was engineering I used to use Eurocircuits. Based in Belgium, Germany and Hungary. Used to turn out a good product fairly quickly. They used to have a, I think they called it, a multi-project where they would combine several low volume pcbs from different customers to reduce costs. Must...

    Paint spraying equipment?

@RobinBHM Thanks for your reply and advice. I hadn't realised spray paint was significantly more expensive nor had I heard of Tikkurila. I will investigate them and paint a couple of test pieces with a gloss roller. Thanks again. Martin

Optical illusion or just plane butchery?

Predictive text is a wondrous thing. I just love the thought of the Angel of the lens tampering with buildings and presumably anything else in view. 🤔

    Paint spraying equipment?

Would kind members recommend paint spraying equipment suitable for applying finishes to MRMDF please. I'm a bit strapped for cash so an economic solution will be good. I have five or six cupboards/wardrobes to build and finish. TIA Martin

    Honing Guides

Surely if you have a Tormek then it's just a case of (freehand) registering the primary bevel on your stone, tilting the blade a little higher (5°) and grinding the secondary bevel. Doesn't have to be that accurate and quick to do.

    How they do that then?

I did something similar for my daughter's wedding. She wanted a dozen table decorations made from discs of silver birch cut from a tree felled in her garden. I soaked the discs in a product called Pentacryl Preservative. A bit expensive at £25 for 32oz but the discs have not split at all in the...
