Help Needed Please! Electric Machine Fault.

From AES's replies I surmise he is an excellent Mechanical engineer who has absolutely zero electronics knowledge (apologies AES if I've oversimplified things). Could it be that the manufacturers are similar? An outstanding mechanical design and build but rely on external electronic design...

Help Needed Please! Electric Machine Fault.

Is it possible to post your tome into the How-To's section of this forum. Mind you I don't know how-to do that. 🤣

    Get this clamp working!

I've been given this Jorgensen E-Z Hold clamp cos I'm good at mending things so 'they' say. It's apparently brand new and was replaced by the supplier who didn't want this one returned. The mechanism works OK but gives very little clamping pressure. Any ideas to improve things? The clamp is...

Can you isolate the caps from ground? Temporarily of course. Possibly give you further info.

Help Needed Please! Electric Machine Fault.

I can see no obvious component failures in any of the pictures @AES has supplied. I can see however a daughter board with black conformal coating at the bottom of the last picture. It obviously has a couple of integrated circuits/ICs/chips on it and presumably a few other surface mount...

    Rust removal from carving chisels

Back on track though. Is this a good application for electrolysis?

    Rust removal from carving chisels

Is that something to do with Cliff Richard? He was wired for sound a few years ago. Now, being 83 he's wired for wool to keep the poor little sod warm! 🤣🤣

    Seeking practical router advice

Being a cheapskate I 3D printed a part that attaches to the end of my vernier calipers 'similar' to @benhen31's picture above. I can zero the reading and hey presto - you can guess the rest. 😇 Have fun Martin

    Left Field

Wikipedia Aquifer - Wikipedia has an interesting article about aquifers including the recycle time of surface water. I gather from it that aquifers are generally porous rock so water would only be absorbed very slowly even if it was possible to drill into them. Of course I suppose it could be...

    Elektra Beckum flip saw

I agree about the lack dust extraction. I've put a panel underneath and a second into the front with hole for the 4" DX hose and a shute attached to the blade guard to channel dust toward the DX hose. It works surprisingly well together with a shop vac on the crown guard. Heath Robinson has...

    Elektra Beckum flip saw

John. Thanks for your reply. I'm probably overthinking the sledge runner thing, something of which I'm often guilty. I'll try some hardwood runners. Re. changing the angle of the blade. Do you mean in chop saw mode (CSM) or table saw mode (TSM)? If the former I had the same issue but 'solved'...

Question re Amazon 'how many stops away'

@RogerS I have exactly the same experience not that that is a lot of help. I agree the 'ten stops away' is a great feature.

    Elektra Beckum flip saw

Cor! Someone else with an Elektra Beckum flip saw. 😯 @John Brown John do you make use of the dovetail mitre slots? I'm wracking my brain (when I can get them going) to work out how to 'attach' a cross cut sledge that will remain nicely registered for more than the 5 minutes before the tops of...

    Show us your Tobacco Tins!

Bl@@dy amateurs! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 There's forty odd tins in the first image held neatly in an old wooden ammo box. That's about 2/3 of my current holding and I've given probably twenty away. My father smoked Golden Virginia but there's a smattering of Old Holborn and a couple of Three Nuns (though what...

Double ground vs triple ground teeth on a handsaw?

I suggest it's simply marketing. I have both push saws (grew up using them) and a couple of Japanese pull saws. Horses for courses. Thinking about how I saw with both types I always relieve the pressure on the back stroke. Not sure I'd be sawing in both directions so not faster for me. IMHO...
