    Shower Pumps

I too fell fowl of Salamander's "must inspect the installation" clause in a flat I rent out. They didn't like it so I paid for both the inspection and a new pump. I suspected the motor capacitor but never got around to testing it. The pump was just over a year old. The identical replacement has...

    Thought I'd share this

Brilliant. Happy Christmas too. Look a bit phallic to me though. 😁😁

    A new workshop.

Built myself a workshop over the summer months from a Lillevilla kit. Six metres by three: nice and roomy. I've already started filling it with sawdust.

Rutlands DK6680 Air Filter fault – can anyone help?

@opener Whereabouts in the country are you located?

    Joke Thread 4 (closed).

Perhaps we should have a thread entitled "Post a photo of the last mistake you made". 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Stabilising a banana covered pottery vase?

Titebond 3 is quite yellow so may add colour to your vase and leaves. Would a clear setting PVA be a less obvious choice?

    Free CAD Software

@Skeety I've used computers since the early 80s and CAD since the early 90s so I consider myself computer literate but I found Fusion 360 very confusing when I tried it even utilising YouTube videos. Probably just me as plenty of people here like and recommend it. I reverted back to...

    Free CAD Software

I use Designspark Mechanical too. It's available in three versions only one of which is free but I find that sufficient for all my needs.

    3D Printing

When I bought my Robox 3D printer back in 2014/15 a couple of friends said they thought I'd wasted my money (£1500 back then) and didn't know what I could use it for. Since then I've printed woodworking jigs, dust extractor adaptors, a flexible hose arm for dust extraction on my pillar drill...

    Where do I stick 'em?

Me too. I guess that's the difference between being an electronic engineer and being a mechanical engineer - using engineer in the truest sense.

    Where do I stick 'em?

@ChaiLatte Thank you thats brilliant information. Since the spacing is 0.577 (Airy) or 0.559 (Bessel) or 0.554 (miniumum sag) it's always slightly more than the 'quarter' points. The average is 0.563 so that's what I will go for as I'm just improving the mounting rather than going for any...

    Where do I stick 'em?

I probably should have mentioned that there are no studs as it's a brick/block wall. As far as the load, quite light. Maybe a book or two but not a whole shelf and then some oddments, pictures and the like.

    Where do I stick 'em?

I'm about to put up a shelf on to metal brackets - yes I know they should be wooden but it's quick and dirty for my study. Do I place the brackets at 1/3 and 2/3 across so the shelf length between the brackets is equal to the length outside them. Or should I put them at the 1/4 and 3/4 points so...

    Elektra Beckum flip saw

^^^^^^ should be chop saw. A cuppa saw sounds an interesting device. My attempt at DX for the chop saw is below. The first picture shows the drop-on back wall in place. The 4" DX hose is placed into the back. A rubber sheet is attched to the top and is, in this picture, folded back so you...

What is the best Emulsion paint ?

I painted one of my flats with Valspar emulsion which can be mixed to a wide variety of colours. Still going strong after seven years.

    Elektra Beckum flip saw

Yes it allows the blade to tilt to about 30°. Does depend upon how the shute is built around the blade cover. I will also post my attempt at DX when using it as a cuppa saw in a couple of days.

    Elektra Beckum flip saw

Note this is all a bit Heath-Robinson as many prototypes are. First job is to close the bottom of the saw body. Just a ply or mdf board with short sides to close the sides. It can be glimpsed in photo #2. Then close the front as below. The hole is to attach my DX. Through it you can just make...

    Any electrical engineers on here?

The fault you have is probably deep in the windings and a real problem to find and rectify. I'm sure someone here recommended a rewind company in Edinburgh. I can't find my note of the company name so perhaps someone else can forward the information.

Help Needed Please! Electric Machine Fault.

Since atm is a Swiss company perhaps they can supply a circuit, well at least a connection diagram. It's worth a try. Martin
