To paraphrase #11 from @Robbo3 post 11. There are no new sins; the old ones just get more publicity There are no new jokes; the old ones just get more publicity. 🤣🤣🤣

    Flattening a small door...

Just came across a method in an old furniture restoration book I happened to pick up. Don't know if it's applicable to your door. It suggested gluing a veneer to the convex side. Make sure the veneer is quite damp. Then when the veneer dries it will shrink and tend to straighten the door. It...

    3d confusion.

Ah! The temperature is <>28c! What is it then? That's enough of me being pedantic 🤣 I guess you mean about or ~28c. I have always read <> as not equal to. I've got my coat on, just need to find my hat.

    3d confusion.

In my understanding the printed filament shrinks as it cools. My CEL Robox allows you to dial in a percentage increase/decrease adjustment to compensate (many reckon the Robox was years ahead of its time) though I believe lots of printers/slicers still don't have that feature. Which printer are...

    Flattening a small door...

You've beaten me to posting! I have exactly the same problem although mine is the door in the front of a grandfather clock that has warped in both axes. So I'll be following the discussion with interest. I hope our posts are common and I haven't hijacked yours. Martin

SIP01344 (aka MetaboHC260) Planer Thicknesser Chain tensioner problem

I can't attach a PDF copy of the manual I have for my Elektra Beckum HC260 so let's try a link to Dropbox - lets hope it gives you access should you want it. I'm not sure how much help it will be as there is virtually no mention of the chain tensioning mechanism nor how to adjust it. I've...

    Oak bench finish (outdoor)

@Superneutrino Hi! I too put yatch varnish on the oak slats of my garden bench. Looked marvellous for a year or two but then started to peel and then looked terrible. Now after probably five years it's just about all off and the oak has weathered to that silvery grey that oak goes. Looks...

Straight edge for jointing, best method

I wonder how it was done in ye olden days before all this new fangled machinery? Could we learn from our forebears?

    Question for the electricians

I'm not an electrician but I've taken several pieces of electronic equipment through type/safety testing. The idea running through all the standards is no one failure should create a dangerous situation. In this case if one level of insulation fails there is a second to keep the 'user' safe. Of...

    Hello all

Welcome @jfw27to the knot house. I'm sure you will enjoy your woodworking and get a lot from it: pleasure, satisfaction, a sense of achievement, frustration, bruises, cuts and splinters. But keep going. A word to the wise though: don't mention the 's' word, you know (I'll whisper it)...

Bar stools often have backs. It's a stool using the definition (it might be correct 😁) that your feet cant touch the ground. Oh I can see this could go on for ages. 🤣🤣🤣

Finished my screw dispenser/caddy. Hung on the first French Cleat I've ever tried. Each section is a different diameter screw. Just have to look to find the length I want.
