That is a lovely piece of work - I hope the recipient appreciates how much care and attention has gone into it!

    Hello from Devon

Hi John, from East Devon. I agree about the shed-size quandary - mine is 12' x 7' so no room for a proper bench and I have to have a foldaway table saw but I have some space outside for bigger projects. We have a much bigger 'log cabin' building in the garden but I am not allowed to mess that...

    I'm a cyclist.

I agree, Paul, it should be about what makes riding more enjoyable. I don't go along with the 'if it isn't hurting it isn't working' school of cyclo-masochism! Also, I have bad arthritis in one knee which makes walking any distance very uncomfortable and I live in a part of Devon which has...

    I'm a cyclist.

Given that most cyclists are doing it for the exercise rather than to win races, cutting weight becomes counterproductive. You just have to cycle further to get the same benefits. But a smooth running, quiet bike with a slick gear change and good brakes is much more enjoyable to ride

Table saw suitable for cutting blanks?

Thinking back I actually used this jig to cut blanks from an offcut of oak worktop - seasoned wood. I screwed a faceplate to the blank. The face plate sat in the recess in the jig...

Table saw suitable for cutting blanks?

It's an Evolution Rage 5s. 255mm blade (10"). Good value with folding stand and sliding table which makes it handy in my tiny workshop as it can be folded away when not in use.

Table saw suitable for cutting blanks?

Before I got a band saw I made up a jig for my table saw. Half log mounted on faceplate and faceplate held in the jig which had a slider to go in mitre slot. By rotating the log between cuts I could make it as round as I wanted (more passes) and I could set the radius to make sure the blank...

Nearly put this in the joke thread

Like many cyclists I also have a car for which I pay road tax. When I get 'stuck' behind a cyclist the reason I can't overtake is usually cars coming the other way.
