Oak and Ash Blanket Box (Finished)

Ahh finished! You can see the contrasting timbers in the lid are also profiled. Although not very obvious, the front panels either side of the central one are (sort of) bookmatched. And as it should be - holding some blankets! Not ideally located for space, but until we move...

    Silver conductivity

Well, I made a tea light holder in wood, so I doubt you'd have problems in silver. See these pictures .... Adam PS, I can't claim any credit for this first picture - it was the first members project I hit upon!

    Ryobi Table saw...

Devon, You've seen many pieces of amazing of work posted here and not one of the members is using a £3K panel saw. The items displayed often have large sheets of material, and people do manage to make the cuts even with a "normal" tablesaw. Although I can't comment on the Ts2010, the Ts2500...

    Silver conductivity

The bigger the sheet the more of a heatsink it would become. So it would "wick" more of the heat away from the source (the bulb). Thus the bigger the sheet of silver, the cooler it would be. However, halogen lamps run mugh higher temperatures so your suggestion needs to be properly researched...

    Ryobi Table saw...

Welcome to the forum. In your situation, and if it was me, I'd go for the scheppach (I'm biased as I have the TS2500). You can always make some extension tables for free if neccasary - the number of times I see nice bits of timber/ply in builders skips is amazing - so if you could stretch to...

    bees wax linseed oil mix

Any local beekeeping club could put you into contact with a local beekeeper who would be willing to sell you some wax. If you get stuck, I can sell you some and post it. Careful when you heat it - you should use a waterjacketed pan, and not use a naked flame. And its possible to overheat/catch...

    sharpening a mortice chisel

A £10 grinder like this from toolstation (OK, its £12) but nontheless, a cheap way out of a fix

    sharpening a mortice chisel

Thats the problem though isn't it? Its harder to ignore on a mortice chisel given the thickness of it. On a normal chisel, its a few millimeters thick so the hollow isn't pronounced - on a mortice chisel - its extremely thick, so the hollow becomes significant. Adam

    My horizontal router table

Looks a great idea. Do you know why this is not more common? Adam

    sharpening a mortice chisel

I've never sharpened a mortice chisel on a Tormek (just about the only thing that doesn't get stuck on it), as I thought they weren't supposed to have a hollow grind. In fact the opposite - don't know who told me (ALF?) that they really ought to have a convex grind? Adam

Distortion to recess while drying rough blank

What a great idea. Obvious now you've mentioned it! Adam

    Toy box (long/pics)

Looks great. I really like that. Can you tell me a bit more about that stay? I'm finishing a cabinet at the moment and the lid is really heavy - so I'd like some kind of similar mechnism. Do you have any supplier etc details... Adam

My work is moving......some advice please

My employment specifies that I will be prepared to work anywhere in the south east. Have a look at your employment contract - what does it say about place of work? Adam

    tablesaw quandry

For me, one of the best bits of the Scheppach TS2500 is the sliding table, and being able to move the extrusion before and after the saw, so its very flexible depending on the circumstances you are working to, as the entire sliding table can be brought forward a tremendous amount. Also, the...
