green oak working tips wanted please

Can't help too much, but if you are using dowels at all - pop them in the oven to dry them out so they shrink - then after they are in-situ, they swell slightly and causes them to grip in very tightly. Have you tried a google image search for treehouse? There is loads of more custom versions. Adam

    menieres disease

I'm sorry to hear your news. Is their any chance you could continue woodworking if you were using hand tools only? It sounds very scary - I'm sure talking it through must help - are their any specialist forums for the condition where you can get help and advice from those in a similar...

    Don't get auction fever

True, but people often pay more second hand for an item, than they can be obtained brand new if the "manufacturer" of the S/H item is a premium brand. If the model shown is a jet (i know, isn't desperately obvious is it), and presuming its the smaller one in the Jet range, it costs £230 new...

    The Move is ON!

Have you considered hiring one of these from HSS? They make life a lot easier! Electric pallet trucks Electric sack carts - climbs stairs! These things are the business - tracked stairclimbers - I know you've got a tail lift - but even so, this does save the back!! You'll be exhausted...

    Strictly an amateur...

The mirrors are great - really look quite amazing. I like them all. I particularly like the one with the curved top. Sorry to hear you sad news, that must be very distressing for you both. Adam

    The Move is ON!

Heres what I found! Packing timber into small "packets" helps - held together by parcel tape. To stop the tape getting sticky gunge everywhere, I used masking tape (low tack) wrapped around a few times to provide a insulation against the glue off the parcel tape. I built a lifting "frame" for...

    what powertools for a newbie

That assumes I knew that post existed! Sadly, I'd forgotten that particular post. I did, briefly, consider doing them in nice links like you always manage, but I knew you'd be along shortly with some pukka links, and I was a little short on time. Adam

    Toy box with a difference?

OK, assuming a standard auction, noone there was specifically looking for a wood item. However having seen it, they were prepared to pay £750. That seems reasonable. Who was auctioning? Did they do a good pitch? Hand built by a local cabinet maker, hand cut dovetails, blah blah blah - really lay...

    FW:Fwd:Worth noting

Its well worth checking all these things out on any of the well known anti-virus software sites such as Norton, McAfee, F-Prot etc. They all list well known "hoax" emails as well. I have to tell people to stop sending me these type of emails quite regularly. Adam
