    Chainsaw Reqd - Advice please

Sounds like a proper jacket with arm protection might be a wise investment. Adam <shudder> what a awful thing for your friend.

    Please help with workshop

I'd split it along the lines of heavy processing in one - e.g. routing, planing, drilling / sawing in one, and the handtools/construction/assembly glueup and finishing in the other. Stuff like mains drills, nail guns etc can't get used that much surely? One thing to think about is which is...

Heres a couple of pictures of one I did recently. The top has profiled edges chamfered down at 45 degress to make it look "more interesting". Adam And one of the construction... [/img]

Will this thread get past the mods.

The rules are "(3.) No political discussion Over the years there has been one subject in particular that has caused a few heated debates on the forums and that is politics. For that reason political discussion or political comments in a thread are not acceptable. " Stick just to inflation, or...

    Lost Paris Long weekend

I was also due to fly out of Heathrow. I just got on the phone straight away and changed to Sunday. I didn't know whether my flight would, or wouldn't be going but decided the number of people multiplied by the difficulty of getting there was such I'd rather not even try. For a long time it was...

    Getting organized

Get two or three railway sleepers, buy a cheap and cheerful shed, drop it on to the sleepers (which keep it off the ground and although they might rot, probably not in your lifetime!), add a few shelves floor to ceiling, buy some plastic square "tubs", and take everything out to the "storage...

    4th Anniversary?

I'm in contact still. He's doing some whizz internet conputer-ery type thing in, I believe Huddersfield. Here got it. Wavestreaming was originally formed over 2 years ago by internet radio enthusiast James Mulvany - reselling shoutcast from a single shared server. It has since grown heavily to...

Flexible cable size for 16A feed

Roger, Check this TLC site, you can put in the load (remember volts x amps if you don't know, therefore, 16amps x 240= 4kW for sake of argument, well, you can see it should be fine. (strictly speaking). 4% is the max allowed voltage drop I think. OK its twin and earth, and you are probably...

    Inter-connected mains smoke alarms

You could try the electricians forum on screwfix. I've just bought The electricians Guide http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Main_Index/ ... index.html and its superb for these type of questions. Ideally you want your smoke alarms on a seperate spur, which is not 30mA RCD protected (although your...

    Minimax LAB300 / LAB260 or Hammer combis?

Didn't someone on here have trouble with their Hammer - particularly the after sales service when they found something wasn't square/rigid? Dunno, perhaps worth a search? Adam

Welcome back. Lilac walls with royal blue skirting boards? Nice. cough cough. Hope you get back into it in no time! We too are doing up a place but the "decorating" bug is already wearing thin, and I've not even finished two rooms! Adam

Victor Socket Chisels or Kirschen 1101 Bevel Edge Chisels?

I use some plastic handled ones for opening tins of paint. I save my manky screwdrivers for stirring them once open.  :? Oh dear, I'd better go and hid in the bunker. Adam

    Making a hammer handle

Nor me, I was just thinking it odd to pick up on a hammer handle, when chisel handles are without a word considered for replacement even when purchased brand new. Adam

Can you get to device manager on your PC? Assuming you can, if you click on Universal Serial Bus controllers, then I can see straight away onr of mine is a Intel(R) 82801FB/FBM USB2 Ehanced Controller. The others aren't marked as USB 2, just USB. Adam
