    fuji hvlp pps conversion

Hi All A few people have asked me for information on the various bits for the 3M pps system on the Fuji HVLP; I have sent various pm's over a period and thought it might be helpful to summarise here the key information for reference by others. The 3M information is spread over various sites...

Advice for Dado and Groover sets

Hi I can only speak for the Scheppach 4010 saw. I have the 8-15mm adjustable slot cutter set which works very well. It is 200mm dia and Scheppach list it as an accessory for both the saw and the spindle moulder. On the saw you get a 50mm depth of cut. I do recall it was not cheap... You do...

Workshop Design - well it's a build really.

Lovely phrase which I should bear in mind myself more often. I shall remember it. cheers (thinking about Norway today, Henning)

    Wheelbarrow Planter

I did mention that I welded in a piece of overflow pipe in the bottom (having heat-formed a flange on it) this passes through a hole I drilled in the base of the wheelbarrow which is why you cannot see it. The liner is fairly rigid but sufficiently flexible to wiggle it all into place. Cheers

    New Kitchen Build

    Wheelbarrow Planter

This is very nice. I have recently recommissioned an "heirloom" wheelbarrow as a planter - here it is I made a rigid liner out of 1.5mm pvc sheet that I cut out and bent into shape using a hot air gun, then welded all seams with pvc cement and welded in a bit of overflow pipe in the bottom...

    scheppach planer thicknesser

There is some good advice from a few people already (will come back and read Hawk Moths notes later - thanks) I have the larger Scheppach p/t and found the adjustment instructions from NMA pretty useful, but you need to spend some time with them, figuring out the various adjustment bolts...

Home spray booth (lots of pictures)

I do use the variable speed controller, although to be honest it probably stays pretty much in the same speed zone most of the time. It is useful if only to moderate the basic (full) speed of the fan, which would be way too fierce (and a bit noisy). As I am planning to fit some intermediate...

    Vacuum power take off

I have been using my Fein extractor with my Festool 2200 router (which I assume to be 2200W) - this has not had any problems, although it does appear to exceed the "maxmum safe load" on the power take off which the instructions do indeed state as 2000W. The Fein itself states it is 1200W (1400W...

Home spray booth (lots of pictures)

Hi Yes, I have had some good use of the spray booth and have been very happy with it, both in terms of usability for spraying and ease of assemblyt and disassembly. Two modifications have been called for: - firstly, the polythene side panels have been extended by adding a further panel of...

    Flattening my workbench

I do like the position of the workbench having alot of natural light - it is pretty much North-facing so perhaps that is why I do not find any problems with it - there is also a smaller West facing window at the left end of the bench. The workshop was originally the "schoolroom" in our...

    Flattening my workbench

I think the grain is pretty much par for the course with rock maple - whilst no doubt possible, it was really such a disheartening prospect to attempt to do this by hand. Probably the right answer is to keep on top of it. I think they use the rock maple for its density, but I am not sure it is...

    Flattening my workbench

Paul's thread on retrofitting Veritas vices reminded me that I was going to post some pictures of my recent flattening of my workbench. I have had this for a few years, having bought it from the great Tom Lie-Nielsen himself at one of the (much missed) Axminster shows. btw, I definitely...

    Veritas vices retrofit

Thank you very much for showing this - very nicely done. I look forward to your installation of the twin-screw vice as I want to investigate this for my work bench that has a single screw front vice (vise? - it's American). Cheers

    Spray Booth Build - Updated!!

Richard I was reading your thread with interest. My own experience thus far is summarised here home-spray-booth-lots-of-pictures-t41183.html?highlight=spray and here http://www.woodworkuk.co.uk/forum/viewt ... f=7&t=4763 Based on that experience, I would venture two suggestions, both of which...

Which router cutter for stair strings.

JoinerySolutions and katellwood both posted some interesting pictures (thankyou). I am interested in the curved handrails you have shown on the winder staircases - something I have in (slow) progress on a staircase I have at home. I have copied the curve of the stair string for the handrails...

    Painted kitchen

That is very nice indeed - very much to my taste. I would be interested in one detail of your construction - how are the base cabinets supported? ie on plastic/steel feet or do the carcasses themselves sit on the floor (suitably shimmed no doubt). Are the plinth panels removable or no. (just...

    Major glue-up trauma

Good point and I agree. I mix Cascamite by the weight method, but usually add an extra few drops of water which makes a great difference to the consistency and therefore the practical open time. cheers

    Major glue-up trauma

You make a very good point about the vital impact (helpful and unhelpful)of temperature on glue-up stress. As I have the luxury of a centrally heated workshop, I do always try to remember to turn the heating down before a big glue-up - it does give you so much more time. I would, however...

    Major glue-up trauma

I hate working to any deadline which is why I hate glue-ups full stop! I have not used Titebond III as far as I recall, but my preferred glue for any "complex" glue-up is Cascamite - it has a longer open time than any other glue I have used and also goes on quicker (with a brush). For really...
