    Ungluing a drawer.

I have watched a few videos by this guy He uses a hot air gun to take joints apart, and always sets a timer - I haven’t tried to see what settings/timings he uses, but the above video shows him softening some glue at 19mins. Cheers

Is there a standard way to splice in a fix for a window sash?

Ah, sorry - I had saved that for a proper read; I had misread the reference to it as it followed the comment that the OP should make a new sash. I have now had a (quick) proper look at the SPAB document and it is really good, so thank you @Doug71 - now saved and printed. Cheers

Is there a standard way to splice in a fix for a window sash?

I understand the recommendations to remake, but would like to know the answer to the original question - how best to splice in a new bottom piece on the stiles. I also would consider it a smaller job to patch up rather than remake. I have one or two, slightly less drastic, similar cases. I...

Truing up a disc grinder - where can I get this machined?

Shims rock! After a bit of trial and error with some 0.2/0.1/0.05 mm shims, I got a pretty good result using just a 0.2 mm shim at the fixing hole nearest the previous low point. here is the result - 0.1mm variation which I will live with for the time being (feels much better at the sanding...

Truing up a disc grinder - where can I get this machined?

Thanks for the further comments: The fit on the spindle is tight over the full length of the flange boss and keyway (takes a bearing puller to remove it). I don’t think the grub screws would adjust the angle at all. I am optimistic that the main disc is true enough - this is based on my...

    Thanks! That’s cycling distance

Truing up a disc grinder - where can I get this machined?

The disc is pretty flat across the face when mounted and the variation on the dial indicator moved consistently as the disc was spun. I have got some shim stock and so will give it a go with that - the low point nearly coincides with one of the three mounting holes which helps. Thank you Cheers

Truing up a disc grinder - where can I get this machined?

Hi All The wobble is quite noticeable and so really does need to be corrected. There are two grub screws actually, but they just keep the flange from moving forwards - as you say, there is a (substantial) key - I think one of the grub screws bears on the key. I have had the flange off - my...

Truing up a disc grinder - where can I get this machined?

I recently acquired (from the nicest UKW member) a rather shabby 20” disc sander (actually marketed as a disc grinder for metal, but anway). I had thought it just needed a good clean up, but I am finding it needs quite a bit of fettling - I think these problems go back to its original...

Rutlands router lift with motor and table

You don’t say exactly which one you are looking at. I have had their motor for some years and it has been excellent in my experience. I detached the variable speed control and extended the wiring to it so that I could fix it to the outside of the router table which is super convenient. I have...

    Sold Baileigh 20" disc sander

I should add I have no way of actually measuring the speed (as @Inoffthered commented, it will go round quickly).

    Sold Baileigh 20" disc sander

Yes, it’s interesting re the rpm. Baileigh evidently sell a lot in the US, so much of the readily available info is from their US site. The 60Hz version is stated as 220V and 1100rpm also. They also do a HD version that is stated as also a 2HP motor/60Hz/220v, but 1750rpm - this one is stated...

    Sold Baileigh 20" disc sander

I spotted the rpm point and am curious to work this out when I get it home. La Scholar doesn’t think I have the space for it either, so yes I am in trouble 😁 Cheers

    Sharpening board station wood selection

For sharpening fluid on diamond stones (plus a ceramic one I use), I have switched to this stuff Diamond Lapping Fluid - Trend Direct UK. I had long used WD40, but find this is much nicer to use. A little goes a long way, so I am still on my first bottle. Cheers

    Festool Kapex Recall

My Kapex was collected on 3rd June and was delivered back by UPS today - I got notification it was on its way on Thursday. It arrived back in one piece - no idea what they actually did to it - the only noticeable difference is that the laser is clearer (but this needs adjusting) perhaps they...

Hand paint and/or spray paint for kitchen units (and other built-ins)?

I need to embark on a kitchen project. My preferred style is face-frames, Egger melamine carcasses, shaker-style doors, solid oak drawer sides and Siilestone work surfaces. I am pretty comfortable with all of that. I have used poplar in the past for doors and frames, but really like the...

    New Inca Bandsaw

but looking at the maual posted by @rob1693, the length is variously atated as 1870-1880mm, 1850mm and 1872mm, so it seems there is some flexibility! Cheers

    New Inca Bandsaw

My operating manual for my Inca states 1850mm which is what i have ordered in the past. Ian at Tuffsaws advised that he has always made them to 1854mm - I guess the difference will be accommodated in the tightening of the blade, so no doubt your 1855mm blades will be fine. You can probably...

The living hell of dust extraction diameters

Heatshrink is good stuff, and holds connectors quite rigidly when properly moulded to shape. It is not all that cheap, though. A cheaper solution that I have used alot for all sorts of extractor connections is to get the closest size pipe you can and then use a hot-air gun to mould it into...
