    Forkstaff plane

Very nice - must be interesting to plane from flat as more of the blade contacts the surface each time

    Bad luck comes in.....fours

You'll look back in a few years and be amazed at how strong you were during this time. Sorry to hear about your uncle - he sounded like a lot of fun. I hope that you still have lots more good people around you to support you and help you along. All the best.

    Space Saving Furniture

I've seen some of these before. Quite a long clip - but good for a coffee break. Such clever designs - refined into really nice products. Got me thinking about how we use our space at home. Don't think any could be applied to a shed/workshop although they might enable you to keep hold of your...

    Beginner advice...

Hello Had a similar mid life crisis / not talking to the wife spell last year ( and the year before to be honest!) Pillar drill off ebay has been amazing. Stick with that and maybe even get some forstner bits on your birthday. Had a frustrating bandsaw for years - got a new blade from Tuffsaws...

    school workshops safety

Apparently it was a Morrisflex belt sander. Comprehensive information available online and linked to schools and Design Technology safe practice documents. I would imagine year seven pupils would be allowed on scrollsaws, pillar drills and sanders and not much else.

    school workshops safety

Feel absolutely dreadful for the child and their family. I was reading about a similar case the other day. Details below: This would have been shared with secondary schools and with teachers via their professional organisations for DT. I am not saying that the sander was incorrectly set up (ie...

    Tool box

Not much help with this, but... I wanted to say how impressive the design looks - I thought it was the nicked photo from the web and I scrolled down looking for the plans! can I ask what sort of dimensions? It looks really good.

    Laser pointers and CCTV

A place near me was done over and the culprit disabled each camera in turn with a laser pointer. Is that all it takes? I'm not planning a bank - but this seems a very simple way to knock out a camera. Is it permanent damage? Or do the camera sensors recover after a few minutes? What do people...

Im designing a box for the ceiling to hide a projector

I would go for the third design in terms of airflow. I take it the vents are on the sides as any top and bottom vents would be obstructed.

    Tool Storage

Have you tried any books? The Workshop Book by Scott Landis cover lots of different styles of shops - including very smart looking ones and ones that are in peoples homes. It seems to have been scanned in by Goggle and be available online now. https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=SJR ...

Why do I keep doing this to myself....

I've seen stuff in my local B&Q and Wickes that is hard to believe is for sale. Timber that bends to the left and then further down twists to the right. Stuff so badly bent it barely fits in the rack anymore! I think Custard has a point that all the good stuff is probably quickly sold and the...

    Ultra 7 Universal woodworking Machine

Does the seven stand for seven functions? I can see: table saw, planer, thicknesser. Is there some kind of mortiser on the end?

A little bit here and a little bit there...

If it's for the Gentlemen's room - site the pole dancer's pole directly between your chair and the centre of the shutters. Should cover the gap completely!
