    Nicholson type bench build

That is a beast of a bench. Stupid question - I can't see any dogs, holdfast holes or similar. I can guess you can use conventional clamps at the edges - but do clamps and the large vice meet all your clamping needs?

I've never heard of buffalo board - thanks for that

    Xact Router Table

Looks good All four and 5 star reviews Router lift that can fit in to the table is 200 quid!! Is that normal? Seems like a big disparity in price Featherboards are shown as an extra - I'm guessing the only featherboards that will work with this are t-track ones. Are you going to need to shell...

    Stage Blocks

Thanks guys. Interesting to know that it's used in professional setups as well. Might need to go an have look at some online - see what they do about the edges being on display. I guess the obligatory black matt paint helps hide a lot of that!

    Stage Blocks

I am looking into replacing a couple of old style school stage blocks. Straightforward top and four sides. Corners reinforced with chunky timbers, bit of bracing. Glued and screwed. These ones won't be moved much. Weight no a major issue. MDF or Ply? They need to look fairly smart as they...

    Hidden gate - ideas please.

I fitted a rail to cover the gap in the shed doors. Painted it to match and went in for a cup of tea. Looked outside and couldn't see the thing! Rail was same width as the shiplap in the shed doors and blended in completely. Could your gate open outwards and be full height? Then you could cover...

    A FEW MORE

I'm split between the Laburnum and the Spalted. The contrast bands are really effective. Would love to see a slightly larger photo of the spalted one - nudge nudge! I think the carved chess board backdrop for photos works well too. Great work.

    Home Tuition

Home tuition for kids is a big thing and it happens all of the time. Let's be honest, most of this is cash in hand work. A lot of tutors go to the student's houses. When I say student - could be from 8 to 18 years old. Some students go to their tutor's houses for music lessons or similar. I know...

    My folding butterfly(ish) table top.

I like the three fold. Have you got any pictures of it folded down and used as a window seat? Very interested in seeing that.

    Making my first thing...

You'll really enjoy making boxes and cabinets but getting everything straight, flush and perpendicular in 3 dimensions is quite tricky. Maybe just butt joint the boards and reinforce the corners with some blocks of wood. A toolbox is a great place to start - but don't flog yourself to death...

    Making my first thing...

Photos on here can be really frustrating. You need to have made a certain number of posts. AND You need to set your phone/camera to take quite small / low quality photos (that's what I remember doing)

    Darwin award!!

I saw this story last night and thought it might be a safety thing. Shaver sockets or those top up battery packs and a little splash from a sink. But wow - I'm staggered that someone would take mains electricity into a bathroom and balance it on their chest! I feel for the poor *******s who had...
