Going on the Sunday Apparently there's a National Trust place a few miles away where you can dump your wife and kids - very thoughtful of them!

It's a workaround of sorts, but... Couldn't you drill the 3mm holes with a standard length bit - drill them all Put a longer 3mm drill bit/ extension, adjust the table and then re-drill the holes. I know it's a faff - but one change and reset and off you go. +1 for the hand cranked drills...

I can't stand the phrase. I've been looking for a reasonably priced treadle dentists drill. So many of them get turned into poncy lamps and sold for hundreds of pounds.

I think the answer to the original poster's question is to remove the current government. They have pushed the current ridiculous curriculum. Primary education needs to be opened up for starters and children need to be doing more DT so they can go to secondary school with some semblance of basic...

Not much help - but I've done the same with an old hand crank drill. It was just too low for the Forstner bits and the base+vice. It was a major faff to swing the top around and start drilling and then go back to the base. I found reasonably priced stuff on ebay. Got the right length in the...

You might be onto something with the cooking and baking explosion. I always thought it was just post recession - now we have no more money to buy and transform houses = new tv crazing of cooking shows.
