    Treadle Drill

Spooky (or great minds think alike!) That's exactly what I have in mind! I want to lower the vertical post (without damaging anything) and shorten the string so I can use it with children. I'm thinking rotary sanders and Dremel like things. My own children will be the guinea pigs first of all.

    Treadle Drill

Picked up this beauty today from a lovely guy in Chelmsford. All runs very smoothly just the 'drill' that is stuck and in need of some oil. It was originally used for dentistry. Does anyone have any knowledge of how the drills fixed into the chuck? I guess there must be some sort of flat...

Great work Looking at the photos - you seem to have a very nice setting for your workshop. I hope it all works out smoothly - looks like a great place to get set up with all your tools and machines

Building a desk - seeking advice

You've done well the bench - especially if you were in a hurry as well. For my bench, I ended up just grabbing 4x 610x1220 sheets from B&Q for about a tenner each. The biggest problem I have is I can't really get any bigger materials in my car! This is highly restrictive...

    Accurate representation?

What is that youtuber on? Balanced on his leg, waving the piece around near the holesaw while its spinning and deliberately working it to a standstill. Then claiming he is fair and asking for people to send him tools!!! He has another video where he is slagging off a welder machine and...

    Hayward Workbench Build - Finished!

I get that - good idea to sort out one night per week. Good for you to have something to look forward to. I think that some jobs will get done quickly - but then I lose some weekend time and can't catch it up because of powertools and noise for the neighbours in the evenings. There are times as...

    Planning a workshop build

Quite a funny thread to scroll through! Planning a workshop build to here it is in a few pages! Looks good though - you are very lucky. Congratulations on becoming a father too. My little munchkins often come and nick all my small clamps for den building! Don't put those near the door - that's...

    What to do

I hope your mum and family are okay. I would try and follow up the call to the care commission. They might not tell you what action has been taken, but it could be worthwhile. Bit cliched, but your local councillor and MP might be worth talking to. It might also be worth trying to set up a...

You are a very lucky man to have that set up. Very talented as well - you seem to be able to turn your hand to everything. Seems like you are enjoying yourself - please keep the updates coming.

    Bad hotel experience

I'm thinking of doing similar in a week or so. Might research a bit better now and avoid ones with function rooms! Maybe top floor of a Holiday Inn or similar will keep me away from the noise?
