    Clamping non right angled surfaces

Would it be possible to make an angled version of this type of corner clamp? I know it wouldn't apply and pressure that pushes the dominoes together - but it would keep everything in place.

How do I get this working?

I plan to run it from a treadle. I'll look into that chuck - I assume RP stands for Record Power? I think I need to read up on faceplates for turning as that keeps being mentioned. I'm a bit of a caveman and I like the tighten it in a chuck approach!!

How do I get this working?

Unfortunately I don't know anything about its past. I am planning to run it from a treadle and use sewing machine leather belt to drive it. I did wonder about a treadle turning a heavy metal chuck, I'm not familiar with lathe faceplates and how I would use those.

How do I get this working?

Thanks - I hadn't thought of turning a point on a bolt. I'll check the diameter and but some Whitworth threaded bolts. Hopefully both ends of the lathe will have the same threads!! How do flat faceplates work for turning work? I can't see that they will hold a long piece of stock securely.

How do I get this working?

I have this small lathe - chuckless and with nothing going on at the tail end. The end with pulleys where the chuck should go is 1/2 inch diameter and a Whitworth thread. There is enough room for a four inch chuck. First question - do chucks come with a Whitworth thread or are the...

Settlers of Catan - or cutting hexagons...

Very crisp and minimal design. Was the glass there from the start or added as an afterthought. We've always played dominoes as a family and carried a small tin around in my coat pocket. Don't think I've ever held a nice wooden domino though. Ludo has been a favourite for a couple of years...

Settlers of Catan - or cutting hexagons...

Looks great - are you going to show us the next stages with the tiles? I assume you are making this for yourself - we have just bought the junior Catan game and play as a family.

    Securing your workshop

Sorry to hear this - apart from the tools - it's a horrible feeling to have that someone has been in your garden. I know the focus is on your tools - but please consider the house as well. They are likely to wander down and try the windows and door handles if they think you are out / working...

    Entered a parallel universe

It's a trap! House move or you go off and rent somewhere and she takes over the former workshop.

    Dungeons and Dragons Dice Tray

Those look really good. The dice logo is really effective and will appeal to a wide range of gamers. Good luck selling them online.

    Kings Cross Tube Station

I'm a bit confused by people referring to the cigarette 'myth' If you watch to the end - they recreate the fire and discover the 'trench effect' but they believe it started from a discarded match / cigarette.

Share your 3D Printed Tools and Jigs

I've never heard of a spar gauge - clever little piece of kit. The bench dog that fits a bolt looks like a great idea - I think you 'll be printing those for years to come. Great thread idea - thanks for starting it,

Is this a Hobbies fret saw?

I've got one of those. Those flat belt drives seem a little harder to come by but the belt is much less prone to stretching and slippage. I'll check mine for any model numbers tomorrow.

    Table Saw Safety

I have just started using a table saw. I found these two really informative The second clip is very honest about how he used to be and how he is much safer now. I would recommend some simple cuts with the mitre gauge to start with (set to 90 degrees nothing fancy) - just PAR timber, nice...

    Bookshelves installation

Thanks - did you screw all the bookcases together with the tops and bases level or stagger the tops slightly?

    Bookshelves installation

As a side project at my current job I have been ask to install 10 Ikea flat pack Billy bookcases to make a small library. There is hardly any budget for this! The floor is very uneven - am I best making a full length base / plinth and shimming and levelling that then assembling the bookcases...
