    Newbie query, what components required

I think it might only be a dowel with short lengths of plastic pipe to keep them spaced out. If you mean what tools. A pillar drill or drill in a drill stand would make drilling a lot easier. Flat/spade bits are cheap for drilling the large holes - but can be a bit messy and splintery...

No table saw, am I missing out?

They are a nice tool to have. I finally found an old record saw with an induction motor last year. It has been great for cutting up strips of MDF for certain projects (my bandsaw just won't cut straight!) Making rebates for drawers and small boxes has been a treat. But they can be noisy...

    Job opportunities

A camper van shop has just opened down the road from me on the site of an old car rental company. Campervan conversions are very popular on social media as well + the pandemic. There could be lots of new companies out there.

    Joinery with thin OSB

What sort of size boxes are you planning on making? If the sides are over 40/50 cm then I'm not sure how strong they would be - one bump/knock and they might break apart. I suppose you could test this on a scrap piece. Definitely go with reinforcement blocks in the corner. Triangular ones look...

Chemicals in pre treated timber / decking etc.

Currently investigating some projects for a school outside area: planters, mud kitchens etc. Are some types of pressure treated wood unsuitable for use where children will be regularly touching the wood, sitting on it, playing with it?

What is going on on eBay??

I often see the same stuff on for months and months at silly prices. You can put it on at whatever starting price you like. Doesn't mean it will sell. I've seen things worth £30 on ebay at £300 for half a year before they give up.

    Organiser cabinet

That does look good - should keep you organised for years. We're all going to start emailing you now - have you got at three screws - I need 2 3/4" number 6 screw with a raised slot head!!!!

    Just use the blade guard!

That's clever - I didn't think of something with a little lever arm to quickly do it up tight. Thanks for the pictures - they've been a great help.

Things you say that got you into the dog house.

Not to a wife or partner - but to my supervisor on the checkouts carrying a feather duster: Didn't know they made witches broomsticks that small!

    Just use the blade guard!

It is just attached to the riving knife (which isn't easily adjusted) by a bolt. The cover is solid cast metal and just flops down onto the top. I've checked through the manual and there are no missing parts. I'm wondering whether a plastic blade guard would be better.

    Just use the blade guard!

That seems to be the problem - It's just attached to the riving knife with a nut and bolt - the weight of it makes it rest on the surface and there are no springs / mechanisms to make it rise and fall. I've checked the manual and there are no missing parts

    Just use the blade guard!

I have recently acquired a Record RPS 825 table saw The blade guard is cast metal and very heavy for its size. because of its weight, it doesn't always move smoothly out the way for sheets of MDF etc. It needs an extra shove to make it lift up. This puts me edge when I'm using the saw and I...

    Plywood for tool wall

That cabinet is a beast! But I love it - especially the belt sander mounted on the opening section.

    Plywood for tool wall

I have made one of these 'door on door cabinets' nothing fancy, just chopped all the parts at the same time on the mitre saw and butt jointed the corners. It eats tools. I hang small clamps and things on the outside and I think you get 5x the wall space that it takes up inside of it. If you can...

Is it practical to turn wood between centres with a driving dog?

A cord to drive the faceplate - are you using a motor drive or something powered from a treadle?

    Recording of deaths UK

I don't normally write on these posts. But... If you go to the Richie Allen website and their forum. They are happy to have posts about: Chemtrails (conspiracy theory that plane trails are population controlling chemicals / drugs); Climate change being a hoax; 5G being mind control network and...

    Electrifying a Shed/Workshop

It looks fairly solid from the pictures. I am in exactly the same situation with extension leads out to the shed ( but a longer run from the house) A while ago I refused to do some dodgy wiring requests on a family members house. They paid someone to do it on the cheap and he ran a cable down...

How do I get this working?

Redhunter and Tanglefoot Thanks for your replies. I was planning on using the lathe for some basic wood turning. Treadle power and short lengths of wood. I had forgotten about the four prong drives. I think they should do the trick - just need to make sure the wood is always turning in the...
